I was actually prepared to buy an Apple Smart Case until I had the opportunity to handle an unwrapped one in the store. Now my Poetic case is on its way and should arrive before my iPad Air has to travel for Thanksgiving. It'll be a relief to move my Air from the heavy iPad 2 case that is currently protecting it to something that shows off its slim lines and low weight.

Not only does the price vary by color, but some are sold directly by Smart Shop Online and some are fulfilled by Amazon. You need to check the seller for each color to get the best deal.

Keeping the liner clean

My case arrived in the mail minutes ago and my iPad Air is safely ensconced in its new home. I find the cover folded back into a stand to be stable enough for use on flat surfaces so for a total outlay of $10 I'm a happy camper.

But, as with all these cases where the microfiber lining is on the outside when the cover is used as a stand I'm concerned about dust or whatever getting on the lining and then scratching the screen when it's closed. Real issue or OCD?

You can just as easily fold the cover with the faux leather side out. ;)

Edit: I did this before, but just tried it again. The triangle stays together better with microfiber side out, but it still works for the shallow angle well enough the other way.

Yes - I tried your suggestion and mine is very stable with the faux side out in the typing position. Since that's the way I use it most of the time, even for movies and YouTube, I'm satisfied.

I always fold mine with the outside out. I actually think the trifold holds better that way.

Wow! This is easily the nicest case I've owned for an iPad or Mini. The sleep/wake magnets work perfectly, and the fit is also perfect. For those who didn't read the "Failure" thread, the magnets were not working properly, and Poetic was sending out replacements at no cost. I managed to get one on Amazon for $.01 plus $4.95 for shipping! The prices varied by color, and I don't know if they're still on sale. Poetic said they were receiving the revised cases this past Tuesday, but it wouldn't hurt to look.

Material quality is excellent, and the magnets are very strong; stronger than the magnets in my Apple Smart covers. Weight is so-so, but only because the Air is so light. The microfiber inside is much finer than the faux suede Apple uses, and the ports and buttons are left uncovered (my personal preference). The entire case has a leather grain finish, and it's done very nicely.

I'm glad I stopped home at lunch. This one cent case made my day! :D

EDIT: Bought batteries for my digital scale, and it weighs 6.75oz. Not bad for a full case, but the Air feels much more substantial now. Fortunately, the case grips quite well, but is easily removed. I'm leaving it on for now. Scratches stink.....
Huh, I read a review on amazon that says the Poetic weighs 5.2 ounces. How much does the official Apple Air Smartcase weigh?

5.2 can not be right.
I've weighed two and they were both just slightly over 6 ounces.

Ahh ok what'd you weigh 2 Poetic cases? So it looks like compared to the official Apple Smartcase the Poetic is probably the next lightest right at another ounce (given Apples weighs in around over 5 oz)?

I own two, but only weighed one. These cases have been working great, and I'd jump all over one compared to the Apple case. I paid $.01 for the first, and $4.95 for the second (plus shipping). It's tough to beat, and I don't like the covered volume and power buttons on the Apple case. I've bought cases like that before, and always toss them after a couple of hours. The Poetic case also has a much larger opening for headphones.

Does it make the iPad Air feel bulky? I bought this Moko case and its makes it feel like 5 lbs. Is this Poetic prone to fingerprints? One think I really like about the Moko is you cannot see any fingerprints.

The Poetic Slimline is one is the slimmest, lightest in this type of design. But even so, does add some heft. In my opinion the lightest feeling cases are those slide in leather, like the Kavaj or Yoobao. But then with those two, you have the bezel around the screen.

I so like the slim Air and want to keep it that way, but need a stand to prop it up for typing. For me, the best option is a skin for the back with the Smart Cover. Then I also have the frosted white Poetic back only which I can put on for additional protection when going out of the house.

No problems with fingerprints at all at least with either white or red Poetic cases. They were two of my first purchases in my case search and the only actual cases that I've kept. Most of the other ones had defects or were cracked - just poor quality. Even with the leather Apple cases, I was disappointed in the quality of the product. Both Poetic cases and the Poetic back only arrived with perfect quality.

No fingerprints at all on the Poetic. You can feel the weight increase, but it's not a big deal for me. I use an Apple Smart Cover and the Poetic case, and there's only a few ounces of difference.

The Moko in your link looks identical to the Poetic Slimline. Probably made by the same factory.....

Wait a minute there's a Poetic "back" only case with just the shell? How did I miss this?

Can anyone post pics of their case they received?? I'm curious about the colors if they are as bright as they seem on Amazon or if they are less bright in person :) thanks in advance
