Well good luck flipping a ball on that tiny screen
If you have to go to the Phone to capture the Pokemon then it is a total fail.
On install it asks you to verify that Pokemon Go can access your Health data. This is done via iPhone. Then the app loads your account on the AW.
Then it only appears to let you know what's around if you click 'Start' (Pokemon workout) via their app.
Correct me with the right details if I'm wrong, but I think it only works if you have the workout running in the background.
So you are going to need to have Pokemon workout mode running all day?
Obviously you don't play this game, or you'd know that the game in its current state is a total fail - you must leave the screen active even in your pocket while playing. This is an excellent addition to those with the watch.

It should still count all steps towards the pokemon, even if not running.
And to think people said that Apple couldn't innovate anymore.
Let's see, "We don't need no more games, where's our Mac Pro updates." "Oh Great Apple, only a week before Christmas, you fools you could have sold more watches if you had it out sooner. " "Steve Jobs never would have let it be released with that shade of red for Mario." "Too late, the Apple Watch is doomed." "Now we know what Jony Ive has been up to for the past year." "Wait until all the fanboys find out it eats their battery life."
Catching Pokemon is not a feature included on the Apple Watch.Well good luck flipping a ball on that tiny screen
lol. If you're still playing this (or did in the beginning) you probably need to reevaluate your entire life.
Can you start the workout and hatch eggs via steps, or is it still 100% GPS based progress? (I'd love to hatch eggs on my treadmill.)

From what I can tell, you can use steps to count towards things. I was in the grocery store and added 1km to my egg total just being in there. Can you start the workout and hatch eggs via steps, or is it still 100% GPS based progress? (I'd love to hatch eggs on my treadmill.)
For what it's worth, I still play the game occasionally because it's fun and nostalgic. But, in the sense of needing to "re-evaluate my life", I'm 23, with a full-time salaried career right out of college, in the field that I studied (Marketing), at the largest employee owned ad-agency in the US. I think I'm doing alright for someone that plays Pokemon Go, since apparently success and playing Pokemon Go are now somehow related.lol. From early impressions, I don't believe that it will be too much of a battery killer. I set up the app on my Series 2, and what it does is have you start a "Session". Only then does it track all the activity, steps, etc., and using location. At first, it has you ask for location even when not using the app, but changing this in settings to "Only when using app" doesn't break watch function. Pokestops from the watch are pretty great, and you can end the session and it counts for the game, as well as the watch's own activity rings.
Just a heads up if there's anyone in here who actually enjoys playing the game every now and then and has the watch.

You need to have the iPhone with you, because it relies on that too, but the iPhone doesn't need to be open, or the app.Started it this evening, while walking around in house. Didn't count a single step. Is it GPS based or relies to the iPhone?
