For the game, this looks pretty slick. If history is any guide, it'll be buggy for a while, but looking forward to playing it with this.

Want to know if you can get your whole days steps/distance counted?

....All this forum is now is flabby old dads complaining about everything. Christ.

Hey! Get off my lawn!

Well good luck flipping a ball on that tiny screen

They had put out that device you wear on your wrist a few months ago and whenever there was a pokemon in the area, you just pressed the button. It would throw one Pokeball automatically and you either captured it or not.

They should have done something similar with the watch. Press the button and it throws automatically.

As Pokémon and AW drop in popularity we finally got Pokémon on AW. Money talks

The first page of this thread should be named "When Trolls are not self aware". First 8 comments; trolling. Had to get to the 9th comment to have someone actually comment on the topic. 20 out of the first 25; trolling.
I wonder if the NB4 crowd realize they are just as bad as those they denigrate? Probably not.

On topic: Wouldn't this app have made a little bit more sense if it was introduced when the app debuted? Probably would have had a couple of updates by now.

On install it asks you to verify that Pokemon Go can access your Health data. This is done via iPhone. Then the app loads your account on the AW.

Then it only appears to let you know what's around if you click 'Start' (Pokemon workout) via their app.

Correct me with the right details if I'm wrong, but I think it only works if you have the workout running in the background.

So you are going to need to have Pokemon workout mode running all day?

If you have to go to the Phone to capture the Pokemon then it is a total fail.

Obviously you don't play this game, or you'd know that the game in its current state is a total fail - you must leave the screen active even in your pocket while playing. This is an excellent addition to those with the watch.

It should still count all steps towards the pokemon, even if not running.

But what about Pokestops and Pokemon spawning? It appears to only alert you of these during your Pokemon 'workout'.

Is this game still relevant? I mean, I pretty much only see the odd older-than-millenial every now and then playing this on a bus or something, but to me it really seems like it could be classified more like a meme that had it's couple of months and has faded away.

lol. If you're still playing this (or did in the beginning) you probably need to reevaluate your entire life.

Let's see, "We don't need no more games, where's our Mac Pro updates." "Oh Great Apple, only a week before Christmas, you fools you could have sold more watches if you had it out sooner. " "Steve Jobs never would have let it be released with that shade of red for Mario." "Too late, the Apple Watch is doomed." "Now we know what Jony Ive has been up to for the past year." "Wait until all the fanboys find out it eats their battery life."

This was awesome. You should post it in every thread. ;)

Can you start the workout and hatch eggs via steps, or is it still 100% GPS based progress? (I'd love to hatch eggs on my treadmill.)

people are still playing this.... either they should have had the app in its hay' day or not make a big deal of its late release...

From what I can tell, you can use steps to count towards things. I was in the grocery store and added 1km to my egg total just being in there.

For what it's worth, I still play the game occasionally because it's fun and nostalgic. But, in the sense of needing to "re-evaluate my life", I'm 23, with a full-time salaried career right out of college, in the field that I studied (Marketing), at the largest employee owned ad-agency in the US. I think I'm doing alright for someone that plays Pokemon Go, since apparently success and playing Pokemon Go are now somehow related.

From early impressions, I don't believe that it will be too much of a battery killer. I set up the app on my Series 2, and what it does is have you start a "Session". Only then does it track all the activity, steps, etc., and using location. At first, it has you ask for location even when not using the app, but changing this in settings to "Only when using app" doesn't break watch function. Pokestops from the watch are pretty great, and you can end the session and it counts for the game, as well as the watch's own activity rings.

Just a heads up if there's anyone in here who actually enjoys playing the game every now and then and has the watch.

Go go gadget egg hatching!!!

I figure i'm 50 years old, run 15-20 miles/week walk another 25-30 miles/week. I am self employed working 40-50 hours a week doing embedded software engineering for flight avionics at home. I like to play this with the GF and her kid and while on walks.

No need to reevaluate my life, what about yours?

Walked to work his morning. Heaps of Notifactions about stops and pokemon in the CBD. Overkill a little bit, But i'm just glad it picks up the distance and pokemon buddy more acurately. I do lots of running and the GPS in pokemon might only register 0.8 out of 5km So this will fix that. It's great not to have your phone in hand or the phone app open and not to kill your phone battery. My Apple watch lasts for 2.5 days, where as the iphone 7 might only last 3-4 hours of a solid pokemon go time.

I'm not fussed about not being able to catch pokemon on the thing and as i'm level 30 in the game my interest has peaked unless it's rare pokemon so now i won't have FOMO and can see what pokemon are about and what ones i can ignore

Started it this evening, while walking around in house. Didn't count a single step. Is it GPS based or relies to the iPhone?

You need to have the iPhone with you, because it relies on that too, but the iPhone doesn't need to be open, or the app.
