I wouldn't be caught dead walking around with this, and I consider myself geeky and a little bit nerdy. This is something I'd expect from the dyed hair-Pokemon shirt-Sanrio backpack-knee high stockings type that walks around with an Nintendo DS and Manga.

Or something I'd see from geekiest-nerdiest group in high school.

Then again, I'm not really a Pokemon fan, so whatever floats your boat.
Pokemon shirts--check. Sanrio backpack--check, though that has been passed along to my kid. Weird hair--I even have the same hair color and style as the blonde female avatar in the Pokemon Go game. All I need is the freaking hat and the weird clothes and I'm set. I'm part Asian, a fraction of which is Japanese going back a couple of generations, so I figure looking like this is my birthright.

And I still wouldn't wear this pokeball wrist thing and certainly not for that price! I would rather have an app for my nerdy Apple Watch.

Had an interesting experience earlier this week. I was taking my trash out to the curb and an SUV stopped in the middle of the street and two teenage girls jumped out running all over the place while staring at their phones. I thought they were doing geocaching at first but that's apparently so last decade. ;)

I think I'll just wait until they actually come out and if I'm still into at least semi-regularly playing I'll pick one up at retail cost from best buy or GameStop. It's not like they aren't going to not be able to make enough of these. Its a piece of plastic with a button, Bluetooth, and a band. It can't really have that complicated of internals like say an Apple Watch etc. They should be able to crank these out like candy.

(On a side note it puts the high cost of Apple Watch bands in perspective. $35 retail for this which has Bluetooth compared $50 for a couple strips of colored rubber.)

I'd pay $250 to not wear one. The teenage virgin look isn't cool.

Get off your high horse, mr.

Myself and my fiancée are neither teens, and we are certainly not virgin and we would love to be walking around with such a token simply to show that we are a part of the community.

A community that's proven to be great thus far. We have had complete control of all gym's in our neighbourhood but there is always two yellow team players bringing them all down once per day. So today we encountered them at one gym and these two who we thought off as "shitkidz" proved to be a married couple in their mid-thirties and they were great people walking around with us for hours.

I've never understood this game, and I was the prime target market when it first came out. I think it's partially because I grew up somewhat poor and couldn't afford all the Gameboy games and trading cards, but I also just didn't get it when my friends would obsessively talk about it because it just sounded so dumb. Most of the Pokemon look and sound like two random things pulled out of a hat smashed together. My young self could see it was an obvious ploy to make a crapload of money. Now I see grown-ass men at my work running around like idiots trying to capture Pokemon and I'm about to lose my mind. It's all over MacRumors, it's all over Reddit, it's all over Twitch, it's all over YouTube, it's all over Twitter. Even my wife says her FaceBook timeline has been taken over with it. It's like Flappy Bird to the 10th power. You can't even avoid it if you want to because of all the people IRL who are playing it and talking or posting about it. Hopefully it dies down soon and is more of a nostalgic thing. I don't care if people play it, but it's just too much right now.

I can't imagine feeling this angry and sad over something so many people enjoy. What's it like?

Oh wow, yeah when put in perspective that really is something!

I'd like to see some kind of Premium edition that works with an Apple Watch, too. As an option that'd be a nice compromise.

I second this wholeheartedly. I just want a way to get notifications w/o needing the app to be open (or wear this band), how more perfect can the AW be for that?
As possibly hopeful news, today's update to the app asks for permission to send notifications. No word yet as to what they're for, but we can hope.

Lol, actually he looks like he's the age Ash Ketchum really should be by now.

I played most of the large console and handheld games and I was thirty so I could afford to get some of the special edition game boys, which was fun. I collected a lot of stuffed Pokemon and watched the series except the last three seasons. I got kind of burned out on it which was a shame because my eleven year old and her best friend were getting into Pokemon shows and games a couple of years ago and I was getting bored with it. I never did get into playing the card games.

I like Pokemon but the whole concept of training them to battle never sat quite right with me because I grew up where drug dealers were also into dog fighting and I risked my life too many times trying to help those dogs. It's a bit disturbing to see this cute animal thing get the crap kicked out of it until it faints when you deal with a very bloody ugly parallel reality. I have to actively engage in a cognitive dissonance in order to enjoy the game. My favorite Pokemon game of all time was Pokemom Snap--where you're just trying to get the best photo of the Pokemon. That game is actually what got me interested in Pokemon at all.

I like Pokemon Go when I can get it to work. I run into some server traffic issues. I have not gotten very far with it.

I guess as I look around and see the craziness surrounding this game my state of mind toward it can best be described as "bemused".

A new way to go swinging? A whole new meaning to 'I choose you!"

I'm not sure, what's it like to ask irrelevant questions to strangers on the internet? Because I sounded so sad and angry in my OP—come on! Just because I'm getting tired of people running into me around campus OVER AND OVER because they're trying to hunt a invisible pretend monsters and not watching where they're going makes me some kind of huge luddite, right? Please. It's everywhere and anything in excess is annoying unless you're a huge fan. This is literally the crap I have to listen to: "WHAT THE F***? Get in the blue ball you b****! God dammit, eat the f***ing raspberry and get in my ball! WHAT?!?!!! S*** I'm so f***ing pissed off right now!" Yeah it's so relaxing hearing people screaming that while running around like maniacs. I realize not everyone is this way but there are many who are completely ruining it and it's really annoying. Sometimes they are people who are loudly live streaming while they're doing it with Go Pros strapped to their faces. This is our society now. I don't care if kids play it but some adults are taking it way too far.

You wouldn't know this because this is the first time I've mentioned it online - but I hate people who drink and smoke being out in public. I could literally take your argument and replace Pokemon Go with other things people like to do. But I realise it's no real big problem. I just let them get on with it.

Adults aren't allowed to enjoy fun games? You know Pokemon (the main series, I don't know about Go) has ridiculously deep gameplay intended for adults? It's the same reason why Disney, Pixar, Ghibli films are so successful, because they're not just for kids.

I guess I'm just sad that someone feels so angry at other people having harmless fun (unlike public drinking which can and does lead to all kind of problems - but "I realize not everyone is this way"). It makes me wonder.

I agree that's incredibly annoying and inconsiderate behavior they're exhibiting in public. I'm really enjoying the game when I can get it to work and have fun talking about it with my husband and friends. But I was worried that some dingbats were going to behave in a way that gives this whole thing a bad rap. I don't blame you for being angry and frustrated. And I say this as someone who is wearing a Pikachu t-shirt as I type this.
