I've heard some people compare him to "being the next Michael Jackson"

Michael Jackson is legend. Justin Bieber will be no-one in a years time, it's just a fad :p

And I don't believe Michael Jackson ever touched boys inappropriately (infact one of them came out after MJ's death saying that he lied and his father told him to make it up)

Having only read the thread title, I could only help wondering if the injuries were to peoples ears having to listen to his music.

I don't get why people like this kid. He was on SNL a few weeks back and all he did was put on this forced fake smile while he was on stage. I skipped past his two songs.

Some teen idol. I've never even heard any of his stuff. He's not even a good looking kid, so I don't get it.

That's not important, but what IS important is that he cannot sing at ALL. No, I'm serious... he would'nt make the quarter finals of a youtube high schooler sing-off.
He's simply packaged hormone fodder for the teenies.

These people have no idea what they are talking about (especially music, the production on MJ with Quincy Jones isn't the same as the production work on this guys's), probably the same group involved in the injuries...

I don't like that name, Just in Beaver.
Sounds like a Porno from the 80's.

Look at this kid. He looks like a re-re.

I do like Baby by Justin Bieber. That a really good song. But like Green Day better. I do think it's intresting that he is 16, and has te voice I had when I was 10. I'm 14 an have a deeper voice then him. :( What I find crazy is that people are so messed up, they (girl crowd) gets so outta control, and stampeed. People getting squished. Justina mom getting her ass ran over. Girls steal his hat and brag about it. These girls are OBSESSED over a 16 year old guy that has a higher pictched voice than most chicks my age. The stampee and absolute fan stuff is pathetic. I commented on an opera with Justin artcile and said it's "Justine Bieber" a fangirl told me to kill myself, and that he is better than me, and I have no reason to live and out down Justin"

That's a bit to extreme.

Justin Bieber doesn't know what 'German' means

I guess that's what happens when you pull a kid out of school at 14 and stick him in a recording studio. The sad thing is, he's probably already made more money now than I'll make in my entire life and I have a college degree.

geez.
my 4 years old knows what 'german" is, and so do all her pre-school mates..
for a 16 years old not to know that, involves not just poor education, but significant brain damage.

Could someone do me a favor and parallel his celebrity to that of a star to a 25-35 year old. Help me understand the fanatics.

this annoyed me so much, I live in Australia so this was in the news for a week after. The saddest part is some of the people taken away in ambulances were just hyperventilating from being so excited.
Definitely natural selection at work.

It blows me away how interconnected the world is.

Justin Bieber was a success story in his own right. The kid sings, video goes viral, and now he's ridiculously famous. From a nobody to a superstar in just, what, a couple of months, a year?

And now this kid comes along, his video gets posted, and less than 48 hours later he's discovered and performing on national TV. From a nobody to famous in 2 days.

Amazing!

Stardom just became that much more accessible to a whole new generation of people.
