There should be an option in the poll for "Not a Nerd."

I'd be curious how many would select that. I would.

Hmmm, well you see I believed that the mere fact that you browse the macrumors boards would make you a nerd but maybe I am wrong.

Actually, surely this makes you more nerdy than the average joe?

I'm open about it to a couple of my friends who also share some of my interests with computers and especially macs. But with my friends that don't really like computers or think forums are nerdy, I don't share with them my computer/techie side. Reading what other people say the definition of nerd is, I am definitely not socially awkward so I would call myself more of a geek than a nerd because I am into anything related to technology.

I'm an open nerd when it comes to math and physics. I love being a TA because I love to talk about the damn stuff.

If you had to classify me, think of me as a cool professor.

Did I mention I'm modest too? :p

Yeh I know what you mean! There are a couple of people that know I browse Macrumors and half a 1,000 post count! But there are some people that would instantly reject me.

All on the basis of me being labelled as a nerd. Even if I myself hadn't changed they would still care!

Definitely open. I am also a NERDFIGHTER(google that.)

If people are like...

You're a nerd.

or

You're weird.

I smile and say, YEAH, I am! :D

But seriously. I'm also in a *nerd school*, so there's not, what, bullying or whatever about that subject.

As a non native speaker, I never quite understood why dork, nerd, geek were so negatively connoted.

I don't really care, if you don't like it, then just don't talk to me. I'm an enthusiast in various fields and if you want to put a name on it, be my guest, but don't expect me to feel anything about it.

And nerd/geek/dork are "in" right now, we all gotta bank on this fellas :D
