It's all about supply and demand.

Which iPhone are you considering buying - the iPhone 8/8Plus or the iPhone X? If most people are considering the X at its rumoured $1,000 price, then Apple need to increase it.

Looking around these forums, the majority seem to be saying they're going to get the iPhone X. But at a rumoured maximum manufacturing yield of 10,000 per day, there just won't be enough of them to go around.

So, the price of the iPhone X needs to be higher to push people onto the iPhone 8, so those who can afford the iPhone X will actually get one. I think the X should be more like $2-3,000.

I'm not due for an upgrade. The X is clearly a sign of future iPhones, so I'll hold off until the price comes down.

And lol to the "too cheap" thing. The iPhone X is really expensive.

The MacRumors forums are not an accurate sample group for people who are buying the iPhone. I’d say there will certainly be more people buying the 8/8+.

What a ridiculous post.
Supply/Demand. It sounds about right. Apple has a history of pricing things too low, otherwise there wouldn't be massive lines, back orders, and sales records broken every year.

Availability will certainly be an issue. Fact is, most people buy phones because they feel they need them and are not willing to wait.

I'd go a bit higher but only because i want OLED. I wouldn't turn around and spend the same high price a year later though because I'd already have that feature. This year is more of a get the really cool phone or the boring iphone 6SSS.

For an example, more people on these forums would have said they were buying a 10.5 or 12.9 iPad Pro than the low-cost iPad 2017, but far more iPad 2017s have been sold than iPad Pros.

The thing is gonna cost almost twice as much as a Galaxy S8 costs now(at least in Europe) which is considered the android flagship.

So no, it's not too cheap.

$3000 sounds like a good round number. Should be plenty for everyone!!

I know you're being sarcastic, but you're right. There'll be enough iPhone 8s for everyone, but if they're only able to make 10,000 iPhone Xs a day, people might be waiting until this time next year to get it.

Don't Apple sell something like 200 million of each model? Say only half of customers wanted the iPhone X, at 10,000 per day that's going to take 27 years for them to fulfill all the orders which is not an option. Of course, we assume Apple will increase the yield, but we can't be sure.

Apple need to capitalise on the demand and push more people to the cheaper-to-produce iPhone 8 by charging a lot more for the iPhone X.

Apple is much smarter than you or I. They will adjust prices and production for maximum profit! Increasing the price difference between the iPhone 8 and the X is probably part of the plan. 10,000 a day is never going to work. Normally they get production of each model up to about 1,000,000 per day!

Wait....how do I vote for the gold plated iPhone X for $70,000 posted a few days ago?:p

In fairness, the Galaxy Note 8 is almost as expensive as the supposed iPhone X price. That being said, Samsung phones are too expensive.
