what the hell do first gen owners have to be jealous about please just log out.

Many first gen owners like yourself have been blowing the cracking issue out of proportion and spamming threads where 3G owners with cracks are trying to figure out the issue with stupid posts that help nobody like a recent post you made in this thread.

wow the quality really sucks, glad i kept my first gen

OR 1st gen owners are voting no and saying stuff like "nope! i have a 1st gen, and it's better than yours because it's invincible!"

I'd say it's prob a wash between fakers and the braggarts

I think mine has a crack (white phone), but the crack looks blue. I'd think it was a scratch but I've never left it near anything that could scratch it:confused:

No it's not cracked...

Black 16GB Model #MB048LL

Bought it on July 11th at the Apple Store in Tulsa Ok. Every time I read a thread on here with a problem I check my phone, so far no problems. Knock on wood, say a prayer to Steve Jobs. :)

its the truth, he asked if my iphone was cracked i said no

No cracks here

White 16gb
Purchased 11-JUL-2008
Serial 888282XXXXX
Model MB499LL
Even examined with a jeweler's loupe
Naked most of the time (holster used when I am not wearing something with pockets or when tossed in my purse...)

Sometimes I think, oh wait, there's a crack, and then I realize it is only a fabric fibre or car hair...

Best post so far. I would cry if I woke up one day and my iPhone was running Windows Mobile.

Haha, funny story...

The night of July 10th, as I was trying to get some sleep before I got up to wait in line, I had a pretty bad dream. I waited and I got my "iPhone" but it was a blackberry curve painted black!!! And on top of that... It was running windows mobile. I was so pissed because I had already paid for it! It was seriously terrible... That was how I knew I spent too much time on MacRumors...

(Note: Nothing in this post was a lie. I really did dream this. I woke up in a panic)

July 11th purchased a 16GB Black, no cracks.

And please don't tell me that I just can't see them, it's not that hard to look against the light.

Can we stop with these polls now or what?

Ferris 23 you seem like kind of a dick; mine JUST developed two cracks (one around the headphone port and one around the sound on/off switch) and it's been in a case and cared for properly since I got it; I hope yours doesn't develop any cracks but if it does I'm sure you'll think back to these posts and understand how frustrating comments like yours are...

No cracks yet! 16g black - purchased 07.11 _ Model MB704LL - 27th week

Force myself to inspect it every day!! So far, so good. I have to admit that I truly believe that it's just a matter of time 'til I find one (some).

Why?

It's annoying to have a poll for the same thing once a week, not to mention a 20+ page thread about it as well.

If mine develops cracks I'll take it back, not the end of the world. I've taken stuff back to Apple for far less and they always come through if you treat them with respect and don't go in ranting and raving.

So again, if mine cracks, I won't be frustrated at all, I'll just get a new phone. I have far more important things to worry about than my phone developing hair line cracks that require a macro lens to see.

Ok?

I'm not a dick, just think this horse has been beaten to death here. Seriously, why do we need another poll? Was the last poll not good enough?

I'm a first gen iPhone owner. So, I didn't vote on your little poll. I was thinking though that you should've probably gave more options for your poll.
e.g. Black iPhone3g 8GB
White iPhone3g 8GB
White iPhone3g 16GB
Black iPhone3g 16GB
To help identify the problem-prone phones.

Glad to see that there aren't that many people experincing this problem though. With all the threads related to this subject around here I thought it was a much bigger problem.

Despite all the people asking for these polls to stop, I've decided to log my problems:

1st phone: light leak
2nd phone: chipped/cracked top left corner
3rd phone: fairly big crack and approx 5 small ones all around headphone jack

I have week number of 3rd phone to hand, which is 27.

Really thought I was 3rd time lucky and had convinced myself to just enjoy the phone, but couldn't help noticing the cracks thtat have developed.

Had all of mine in a case and treated them with extreme care. I honestly believe there is a problem with either the material or structure of the phone. Whether it be design or build.

I have a 16 GB black iPhone 3G purchased in Mexico on July 13th. Its serial number is 8882648****. Is hasn't developed any crack yet. By the way I haven't seen another phone from week 26 in any other thread. Does anyone have one?

I have a replacement 16gig black. my first one had light leak. This one has been perfect I was so happy untill I saw a small scratch maybee, so i looked harder and harder and it started to look like a hairline crack, nothing to bad yet. So I wanted to try and inspect my phone better. I took a laser pointer I had laying around and ran it at an angle up and down the back of my iphone. If you have a black iphone DONT do this. There are tons of stress cracks all over the phone ranging from small pin tip spots all over to slightly longer ones around all of the rounded edges and there are about four or five cracks that if it was white would jump right out at me. Under the laser they are as clear as day and you can see them in any light. Someone else try it and let me know what you think. Bad Job Apple.....
