Apple Watch: Two years of warranty coverage and phone support for $69. Covers two accidental damages over two years with a $79 service fee for each incident.

I can appreciate the warranty but the accidental damage is what I'm most interested in.

if I remember correctly it's $200.00+ to replace the sapphire glass if you "accidently" shatter it vs $79 if you have Apple care.

Not sure how Apple handles an Apple watch say, run over by a steam roller. Is it the same $79 to replace or?

Regardless I bought Applecare+ for my watch and it follows the watch to the next owner if I sell it next year.

C) I will when I get my watch. ApplePay works FAST. So I fast I forgot to add AppleCare.

Same here. I am debating doing it when I get it. On one hand, it does offer some piece of mind. On the other hand, I got a stainless steel model with a Milanese loop. I'm not hard on my watches. I've had a Pebble Steel since launch and my Gorilla Glass screen is still flawless, and I do not baby it.

It's $79 to replace, but you'll need to return the flattened watch to Apple in its entirety ("This Plan only covers Covered Equipment that is returned to Apple in its entirety;").

I did as it makes selling it much easier when the improved version of this comes out. And nice peace of mind with it if I break it. Been awhile since wore a watch for any length of time so what was an extra 70 bucks after spending 700.

If you're only keeping the watch for a year you can cancel after 1 year and get half your money back.

Something to consider for those saying they don't plan on keeping their watch long-term.

so what would the cost be if you returned a crushed apple watch with no applecare?

Apple care is such a waste. Unless I'm mistaken, the product comes with a 12 month warranty anyway. Apple Care is just expensive insurance that adds another 12 months (by which time you'll have moved on to the new Apple Watch).

Covers you for accidental damage as well mind. And if you could see the way people fly off the handle when you tell them you can't replace their faulty iPhone for free after 12 months, you would soon appreciate the benefits of AppleCare plus.

People seem to think they deserve everything for free these days, even when they choose of their own free will, not to buy the extra warranty + insurance that they are offered. Granted, we're early adopters that probably buy the new version every year so the warranty is immaterial to us, but exclaiming how it isn't worth the money to the early adopters will only mislead the average joe that ends up on this site.

It is what it is though.

Yes I did.
As well as the accidental damage cover you get two years of telephone technical support included, instead of the normal three months.
If any issue arises and a quick Google search doesn't throw up any answers it's great to just pick up the phone to get things sorted.

That's not correct. What you're talking about is Applecare, which is the manufacturer's warranty for 12 months (which doesn't cover any accidental damage)

Applecare PLUS is Apple's insurance and it doesn't only extends the manufacturer's warranty, but it also adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage. So if you break it or damage it in any way, they will replace it for you. I've used this with my iPhone and I can tell you it is definitely worth it.

No. Amex adds a year of warranty.

Exactly. Except Apple pay used the wrong card for me so I had to call up and change it. Well worth it though. My girlfriends iPad mini I bought her on my Amex died right out of warranty. Got the full price refunded and it was enough to by the 2nd gen retina with more storage and an apple case for the same price.

No but if people start experiencing problems, the cost of AppleCare I'm sure will be worth it

I'm thinking of adding AppleCare... I did not get it when I submitted my order, but for only $50 or whatever it is, seems like a reasonable investment. These things are only going to have a shelf life of about 2 years anyway, so the entire term would be covered by apple care. More than any other product, this one seems more at risk of water/scratch/crack/etc, as it is attached to the outside of your body at all times.

My thoughts exactly

No. Amex adds a year of warranty.

Does that cover accidents or just manufacture defects?

That I did not know, thanks!

Precisely.

So that's exactly what I said isn't it? An expensive insurance plan.

Yes. $112 Australian.

Then read the fine print - coverage for two incidents and you have to pay an additional $112 per incident. What a joke.

I'll pick it up after getting the watch. It's much easier to do exchanges and repairs directly through Apple. In case that doesn't work, I simply fall back to my Executive credit card coverage.
