I lock my phone because I don't want any one reading my emails. Otherwise I don't really care about the other information on my phone. I don't store anything too personal. I wish there was a way to set a master password for the mail program on the iPhone, that way I could keep it unlocked and still keep my mail secured.

I agree big time!

Ah, the old joke about the pedophile in the physics lab. It's a classic.

Force = Ass x Acceleration
(there's a cartoon drawing that goes along with the equation, but it doesn't involve children. It's a man (professor) and a woman (student).) It's a great way to get college students involved in physics lab!

I haven't used it yet. I think I probably will start using it soon though, too many emails and contact info I would rather not have easily accessible to anyone picking up the phone.

I wish there was a choice in the controls that allowed us to select what Apps we wanted locked. That way we could use the phone normally, except certain functions (like email and messaging) would require a pswd. This isn't for everyone - that is why we would have a choice.

As I just posted a new thread, I woudl like to put in a passcode lock on email access only (my gmail account). I don't mind access to other features (Calander, contacts) but would prefer to have a passcode on access to email (gmail) account.

Possible?

Exactly!
-an option on "settings" that allows us to select what Apps we wanted locked. That way we could use the phone normally, except certain functions (like email and messaging) would require a pswd. This would be a great function for the 2.2 update!

i never lock mine. The annoyance of having to put in a code is much greater then the connivance of people not getting access to my info. if someone steals my phone they probs just put there sim in and reset it or sumthing rather then try and still my contacts. wat are they gonna do: ring my friends? send an email to someone? :p

i have mine set to lock in an hour. it was a good compromise me, i use my iPhone often throughout the day so i rarely have to enter it. i have a lot of contacts with lots of personal info for my customers, colleagues, and prospects, so it's more out of service to them that i try and prevent their info from getting hijacked.

Mine is always on passcode lock. It's not really a big hassle, just don't want some people reading some of my texts, lol.

Really? Putting in a code every morning when you wake up is that inconvenient to you? I take it your phone isn't paired with an Exchange server.

nope not locking my iphone...:cool:

it's in my pocket all the time anyway, so no need to lock it..

Exaclty why I don't bother with the lock.
I considered putting one at 1 hour, but if I lost it, it means if a nice person found it, it makes it difficult to return to me and if it gets stolen, it will just end up been restored anyway.
