How do you carry your phone?

For protection & functionality I use both.

Screen can't develop any inevitable hairline scratches as they'll irritate me for life, hence a screen protector.

& the rear of the phone needs to be even, with no camera bump, so I can use the phone flat on a table + there needs to be a front lip to protect the screen (& its protector) when I place it face down, hence a case.

I use just an apple case. I'd prolly go with nothing if I didn't drop my phone every other week.

I wish I could use my beautiful iPhone X Space Gray without a case, but whenever I take the case off, I get so paranoid that the phone might fall down to the ground and explode into pieces that I have to put the case right back on after only four minutes... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just decided to use my 6s without a case for the most extended period of time (~30 minutes) I can remember...It is way too slippery for my hands.

One handed use was impacted severely.

Just put the grippy, polycarbonate case back on & aren't worried about dropping the thing again....Phew.

I think I’ve settled on using Apple cases. They are slim enough to keep the nice form of the phone, and they add some color. I’ve got too bad a history with phones to go caseless. But bulky cases and screen protectors interfere with the enjoyment of my phone.

I udse SlipStoppers. They were stickers that fit on the back of the iPhone (originally it was back & front, but they switched to back only with the release of the iPhone 6). But they went out of business. Fortunately, I was able to trim one made for the 6 onto my 7, but not sure why I'll do when I get my next phone. These were the best 'cars' ever. Super minimal look (they look almost like using the phone with no case, but still gave you a ton of grip.

No case on any iPhone from September 2012 to now.

I have cracked one screen, my 6+. I blame this on being under the influence of Benadryl at the time it happened.

Currently my 6s+ is in the same physical condition as when I bought it (new).

Didn't use cases before iPhone either.

Doesn't the aluminium scratch when you put it down on the table or something? Or when you pick it up.

Well, I'm careful where I set it down.

I have a number of places from work to home and in the car or on my person where it sits. And if I MUST put it down on a table or flat surface somewhere I stick something under it.

Work…

If a case needs to be swapped for another as you change environments, then it's not doing a good enough job imo. I use one case everywhere. Changing cases is extra baggage/work, when I've got enough things to worry about during my day/night.

Don't get me started on those who have two phones....

I get what you’re saying and don’t totally disagree. Usually my schedule means I work 8 days in a row in the field and then get six days off.

I would never change cases every evening or just for weekend use. I swap them during extended periods of working one place or the other.

Just a quick poll to find out how people are carrying their phones around

Do you...
  • Use a case
  • Use a screen protector
  • Use a case and a screen protector
  • Use nothing
Particularly thinking about iPhones, but any phone will do
Share your experiences and why you made the choice you have

I personally use nothing and have never felt the need to
I am using Thanotech K11 bumper which is awesome since I am using my phone naked but still protected. I can feel the softness of the iPhone back glass and expose the most gorgeous stunning beautiful radiant eye catching silver in my shirt pocket to get admired by whoever sees it:cool:

I've never used screen protectors before but felt the need to do so with the iPhone X..

I ordered and received these yesterday in the mail. It's a front glass and rear glass protector combo. They went on easy and I feel better having them on, especially the rear so it does not get scratched up.

I am also a long time Seidio Spring Clip Holster user and since I always rock my devices naked it offers a little extra protection. I ordered this at the same time as the above screen protectors and it fits great. Not a Seidio but so far the quality appears to be similar and it's half the price.

I understand what you're saying, but I also think there's a large percentage of people who change cases not for protection, but simply just for looks / fashion. This is similar to swapping Apple Watch bands.

That being said, I know this this thread is more about protection than fashion.....so in that regards I totally understand your reasoning, but I'd also wager that there are people who prefer the corporate look of a leather case while in an office environment & switch to something more rugged if they feel they need more protection.

Element Case and tempered glass screen protector for me. I’ve been using this setup since the iPhone 4. Works well as I have never had any bad phone case dings or broken screens.

The best way to protect your device is to go for both case and a screen protector. Case provides drop protection and Screen protector helps to protect from scratches and finger prints. Otterbox case and GadgetShieldz Screen protector is a perfect combo working well for me.

Arbalest tempered glass

And I rotate using Apple silicone , leather , and spiegen liquid crystal on my X

I use a RhinoShield Solidsuit with Zagg Glass

If I’m going out, may toss it in my Nomad Leather, or folio case

Sometimes, I’ll switch to a Clear Pursuit.

I can never decide, so I like options.
