I like the new nano, but the screen is to small to even play video, and it can't. It also doesn't have the FAMOUS scroll wheel that we all loved. The iPod Classic is the only iPod with the scroll wheel now. And that is probably going to be discontinued soon, or have a MAJOR upgrade for the 10 year anniversary. So, that being said, who thinks Apple Should bring the scroll wheel back to the game?

I think it should come back. I played with the new nano, and while it's pretty cool, that's just not big enough for a touch screen. It's pretty awkward to navigate, isn't super intuitive, and scrolling through a list of artists sucks. Whereas, the click wheel made for fast and intuitive navigation, while being more comfortable to hold, and you could even watch video on it.

IMO Apple should bring it back and offer e.g. iPod Touch Mini with 2-3" screen for those who want a smaller iPod with a touchscreen.

I agree with Hellhammer. I think they should have 2 iPod Nanos. One with the small screen, a touch screen. And then the one with the larger screen with a scroll wheel. Why doesn't Apple ever sell the last generation iPod along with the new one? They do it with the iPhone. The 3Gs is still being sold, and it's pretty dated. The old Nano actually had MORE features than the new one.

That has to do with the carrier. If you notice, the first iPhone cost you Apple's msrp from Apple and AT&T, regardless of contract. When the 3G started being sold, the original was discontinued. AT&T began taking a cut of $200 per phone with new 2-year contracts for the 3G and when the 3GS was released, the 3G was offered at a discounted price.

I know it doesn't work with what apple's vision of what the shuffle is, but to me, the current nano would be the perfect shuffle and a new nano with a larger screen (but still significantly smaller than a touch) with a click wheel would be the perfect nano....maybe in a few generations

nope i knew a ton of people that had it and loved it.

And I'd rather get a long touchscreen (2.5 inches?) for the next gen. Sort of like if you would put 2 6th gen nanos together side by side.

I love my 4th generation Nano. Scroll wheel is a winner and it should have stayed on the Nano.

I liked it, I still have it. It's in my car hooked up to an iPod car kit (Harmon Kardon device).

If you mean the 3rd generation, I love it. It feels good in the hand and is so durable (mine has been dropped a lot, yet still works perfectly). The only flaw is low capacity. I wish I could fit my entire collection on it.

I also have a 32 gig touch that I don't use that much, unless I'm away from home and want to check email or kill some time online. For music I prefer my old nano.

I've got a 5th generation Nano (and a mint 1st gen which still works a treat).
I love the scroll wheel, as it's perfect for operating in your pocket. Also the 5th gen has the video camera and video playback. OK it's not the most amazing video camera, but it's perfectly adequate for YouTube.
Unfortunately Apple are expected to update their products regularly, and the 5th gen was pretty much optimised, so they had to resort to a radical redesign.

If Apple made a touch screen nano the size of the iPod fatty, then I'd be in heaven. While cool and neat to play with, the 6th gen is a smidge small to operate with a touchscreen.

I am fine with current nanos except the price. 149 dollars for iPod shuffle with touch screen. Blah... robbery.

    I hate you apple.

My 4th gen ipod nano was stolen from my honda in January... as well as the motor and tranny... etc. But what was I to do???? Buy the new 6th gen, no, might as well get a touch! Lucky for me Apple had just posted 16GB 5th gen nano refurbs up... $149+tax, a bit steep in my opinion for a model introduced september 2009, but WELL worth it in my opinion! Love the click wheel, it is seriously GENIUS! Whoever invented it needs an engineering award! :)

The 6g's touch screen is nothing more than a gimmick to retain people that can't afford an iTouch. Too bad it can't do anything like the iTouch besides look like it.
Lose video playback, lose a camera and lose physical controls buttons, all for the same price point? No thanks!

I think that apple should defiantly make the ipod nano have a scroll wheel again. Leave the touch screen to the ipod touch. I think that apple should have made what is now the nano the ipod shuffle, and made a different nano. Maybe with a different software update though that would make it so that it could do more.

Yes, they ruined it with the touchscreen, the scroll wheel was like an emblem or something.

Actually after having one for 3 weeks now (the latest nano) I quite fancy the touch screen. It doesn't really take much effort to look at the screen since you can clip it somewhere visible + the rotation of the screen you don't have to worry about the controls being upside down (like some cases that hold the 4th/5th gen).

The problem is the thing is just too small, even with normal sized fingers I can miss the function that I was trying to get to and end up on another screen I didn't want.

I think the new nano does need a size increase to be more usable.. it is too darn small.

The clickwheel basically is what makes an iPod an iPod.

I just bought a 16G Nano and love it! Because I am quite late in the game with the iPods, I would have to say no to the scroll wheel. I've owned 2 iPhones and have an iPad, so all I've been accustomed to now are the finger swipes....so convenient and responsive, love it!!!
