Do you think that the leaked iPhone 5 pics were the real deal?

  • Yes, I am convinced that the iPhone 5 will infact be the longPhone.

  • No, the longPhone was a plant. Apple will come out with a totally new iPhone 5 design.

Until someone comes up with a better way to keep the antennae from taking up space inside, I'm sure we will continue to see it wrapped around the phone as it is currently. Possibly for 4 or 5 generations.

apple will come up with a total redesign of the iPhone i am sure and let's hope for a bigger and WIDER screen not only taller -.-

Any wider and it won't comfortably fit in smaller female hands.

The form factor has to be taller to accommodate a larger battery that's needed to handle the power consumption of the LTE chip set and larger screen.

If the next generation iPhone looks exactly like the 4/S allot of people including me will be upset. I'll officially call Apple lazy at that point. However I think the leaks are real.

I think it's legit.

Honestly the design makes sense, and it matches the recently leaked info that the charger pins will change.

Also I would imagine they would make the screen better and of course have Retina.

So yes, I do think that the leaked pics were real. :D

Retina is a given, considering the iPhone was the first to have it.

You stated that Apple clearly has no interest in giving us a bigger screen. I responded with "you don't know that". Nothing more, nothing less. The fact that they haven't already given us a bigger screen is hardly evidence of a lack of interest in doing so.

Ok smart guy, what's the reason then? The only other option aside from Apple having no interest and wanting to make a bigger screen is they can't make a bigger screen. Whichever it is, it's a joke.

Lol no. It could be that they want to but have been waiting...

Does it not occur to you that they wanted to wait until the market pressures were strong enough?

So a successful company with a hugely successful product is going to wait until customers are leaving and buying the competition because they are so angry before they listen to them? Yea, great business model.

I like it

I'm a little torn. First I think it's highly unlikely the next gen iPhone will be same form factor as the current 4/4S.

The long iPhone does seem reasonable progression of the iPhone hardware. And it does seem the most likely of the design. (Although I totally dislike the smaller connector) most likely will sell a 10 dollar dongle so it can be retro-fitted with current 30-pin connectors, much like they did with the new mag-safe adapters. Yay more money to Apple.

Complete redesign? I'm beginning to doubt it more and more. The rumored tear drop designs looked great last fall. But I don't think Apple could pull that off, especially if it means the battery will be thinner (less battery life).

Those mock ups make it look really nice. I can definitely picture Apple making those phones. But they are just mockups.

Apple clearly has no interest in making a bigger screen. If they had, they would have done it by now.

Terrible logic. NOW would be the time that apple would really feel the need for a bigger screen. Because they didn't implement a bigger screen in precious generations is no indicator that they have no interest.

Makes you wonder what Apple would be thinking if they saw these threads and polls where nearly 50% do not like this stretched design and the other 50% being comprised of fanboys that will justify anything Apple puts out regardless of how lame.

I would truely love to see some wringing of hands at Apple, if this dud is indeed what they intend to foist on the public this fall.

The aim of any business is to make a profit. Everything else is secondary. They're still going to sell millions of these things, so I doubt they give a crap what enthusiasts on a forum think :p

Unfortunately I think this is the design we're likely to see come Sep/Oct. It's a shame because there's little that's innovative about it, and it just screams of compromise to me.

They'll stretch the display because there's no other way of providing a larger screen (and maintaining Retina status) with out breaking iOS since it lack resolution independence. On top of that there appears to be nothing in iO6 that indicates whether any new UI features will make use of the additional space on the top/bottom of the screen, save an extra row of apps.

Beyond that there's little remarkable about the design. The metal backplate is an attempt to shoehorn a unibody construction into a 2 y/o external antenna design. I would have much prefered if Apple could have found a way to combine an external antenna design with rounded or beveled edges, or failing that moved to a full true unibody design (ala One X). Moving the headphone jack offer little in practical benefit, and while a magsafe style connector sounds cool it's hardly a selling feature.

All in all I feel that this new iphone will not stack up as well against it's competitors; they'll have bigger and better displays, better designs (in the case of the One X), just as many features (since LTE & NFC are likley to be included), similar cameras, and will likely be just as fast (Android has improved immensely with ICS, and the trend will likely with Jelly Bean). There is simply nothing that the new iPhone can offer that would be vastly superior to other phones as there was in the past.

I apologise for the long post, but as a long time iPhone user I must say I am underwhelmed by these leaks and by iOS6's announcement, and would have much preferred the tapered design that was rumoured from last year. For the first time I have seen and used Android devices that can match and exceed the iPhone in almost every way, and it seems like Apple is not going to offer anything revolutionary this fall.

Customers are leavin?!!!! Wheres your stats?

Dude, you are way off the mark here. I'm no expert by any means, but feel pretty confident in telling you that. Obviously, the entire market wasn't in dire want for bigger screens because Apple has been recordly successful in selling the 4 and 4S. Is it possible that Apple may have known by doing research that they could get away with the same 3.5 inch screen for two more rendentions? If sales have slowed down, it's a good possibility hat many are waiting on he 5.

Dude! All you have to do is go look for the thread here called "Switched to Android and loving it" and you will see a ton of iPhone users who have switched to Android. What was their main reason? Most said because they wanted a BIGGER SCREEN. Then 4G was the next biggest thing. If thats just people on this forum, you can imagine how many more people who have never even heard of this forum have switched from iPhone to the competition.

everyone saying they dont like it based on leaked parts will change their tune when apple unveils it completely assembled. mark my words the leak is real and this thing is going to look gorgeous assembled.

The MicroUSB dock connector is plain ugly and out of place. I think Apple will stick with the 30 pin dock connector. The speaker grilles look ugly too.

In other words, I really have no problem with a longer iPhone. Take it this way, imagine your iPhone's screen estate has shifted longer and has now occupied the place where your front camera should be. That should be around what you should expect.
