I've managed to buy a few of them so far since launch. Are you in the US?

Well you must know some trick that even Apple doesn't know about because their website says you cant get one until Nov. 14th.

I have been to the Apple store and Bestbuy multiple times and every time they have zero in stock.

The Apple Store shows that if I wanted to replace my silver aluminium watch with Series 1 or 2, I could pick one up today at pretty much any Apple Store in London. Getting a stainless steel watch would be harder; none with sports strap available to pick up today but if I kept trying there's a good chance one would appear somewhere I could get to easily within a week or so. Some models are thin on the ground and obviously it's different in different places, but stock is moving.

By the looks of it, I'd have a much better chance of upgrading my watch without a long wait than I would my phone.

Best Buy ordering is the quickest, I got me and my wife's S2 in just a matter of a few days last week. I have several family members that will be getting them soon.

Edit to add, just looked at a few models on BB, shipped to you by 10-12.

For Apple Store stock (checking Monday, no shipments on Sunday) try istocknow.com

Best Buy is fastest for shipping, depending on which watch you want.

My wife wants a 38mm SS. Best Buy doesn't even have an option to order one. I want a 42mm BSS. Best buy gives an option to check stores with no option to order and no stores have them.

Like I said, Apple and the way they handle the Apple Watch releases is pathetic.

I don't have one and I don't know of anyone in the family or friends that has one or even wants one.

I bought a series 2 a couple of weeks ago, just walked into the Apple Store in Aberdeen. They only had a couple of combinations - I got a 42mm silver aluminium with a white sport band. That new band will go in the box with my old series 0, for my sisters Christmas present.

My other sister and her husband both have series 0 stainless, and my best friend, and my gym buddy, both have series 0 aluminium. Other than these, I've seen a grand total of two, and the Apple Store employee who sold me my series 2 was one of them!

A couple of friends with series 0, one of them was an early adopter while the other just bought series 0 on ebay at a good price. Both use the sport model and I have series 1, we all have the black band so basically the same watch :D

I notice alot of people on this forum referring to "series 1" as "series 0". The way I understood it was that the first models that came out were "series 1", and that this year's models that came out are "series 2". So at first I thought people writing "series 0" was just a common misunderstanding and that they just meant the first ever models to come out (which as far as I knew should be called the "series 1" http://www.apple.com/apple-watch-series-1/). But as here, I notice you have mentioned you have both a "series 0" and a "series 1", I am now beginning to question myself and wonder if perhaps I am missing something. Are there in fact models from the first series that were classed as "series 0"?
If so, what is the distinction between series 0 and series 1?

(This is not a criticism btw, I'm just trying to get my own facts straight. So would love to hear your thoughts on this).

Many thanks in advance.

Apple announced the new Series 1 and Series 2 models last month.

The original, 1st generation Apple Watch range doesn't have an official Series name but MR members have taken to calling them Series 0 to differentiate them from the new models.

I've never seen one. I've been told that someone at work has one but I've never seen her wearing it.

Apparently smart watch adoption rates in NZ are less than half that of the global average.

I'm getting used of calling the original Watch series 0, but maybe the correct way is "first generation"

"Series 0", or "S0", has fewer letters.

According to Apple, the "correct" way is "Apple Watch" and "Apple Watch Sport". They don't call it "First Generation".

a couple including me = 2-3?
a couple not including me = 2?
a few including me = 2-3?
a few but i don't have one = 2?

Most confusing poll ever

it's hardly that confusing.

a couple including me = me + 1 other
a couple not including me = 2 others
a few including me = me + 2 others
a few but i don't have one = 3 others

That's less than a week ago. :)

It was being discussed in another thread a few weeks ago and there was no mention of 1st generation on any of the Apple pages at the time.

i just checked my browser history and it's probably not that i saw apple using it - Best Buy in the USA has been using the term since at least the 26th September though

2 co-workers and a third who plans to get one when their current fitbit dies (first fitbit died after 6 months but was replaced for free).

I only have one friend who has an Apple watch but I'm seeing more and more out in the wild now that the watch has been out for a year. When talking to someone wearing an Apple watch, we always agree that we love the watch. I've never heard a negative comment from someone who owns one, only from those who don't.

Have been busy so have not checked this thread out for a bit…..

124 people have voted for a hoot, but there is still the odd confused pedant ready to offer advice. If folks don't like how others choose to word and conduct a poll, perhaps they should start their own.

At this stage it is roughly a four way split:
  • about 22.5% of respondents don't own an  WATCH
    • of whom about a quarter don't know anyone who owns one
  • 21% are unique among their acquaintances in owning one
  • 24.2% own one know one and know just one other with one
  • 32.3% own an  WATCH and know at least a few others with one.
Poll closes in three days, though can be reopened if there is enough interest, and pedants don't object.

Wohooo. I am (1E^2-e^0)% sure everyone in here depends on your research. Keep it going.

I'm the only person I know who has an original watch. I've ordered the Nike+, so when it arrives, I'll give the original to a fortunate friend, and then I'll know one person apart from me who has a watch.

Been a lot of response of the the past few days..

With 189 votes:
  • the non WATCH owners number 51, now up to nearly 27% of the total
  • A few (about 7.5%) know a lot of WATCH owners
  • A lot (about 65%) know at least a couple of WATCH owners
  • Quite a few (28%) know just one WATCH owner
    • with about 2/3 of those being unique among their acquaintances in owning one.
  • Thirteen (about 7%) don't know anybody at all who owns an WATCH
I've always known someone who owned one, ever since AW1 because my husband and I got ours at the same time and 2 out of 3 of our kids got one within a month or so of when we got ours.

I have at least a dozen friends who own them (possibly more), and I see someone wearing one pretty much every time I go out of the house.

If that's how you define "a lot" then I chose correctly in your poll.
Sounds like a heck of a lot to me, but it all depends on your point of view.

I'm effing sure that absolutely no one here depends on my "research"…….

..but it's a hoot, so I'll keep it going another couple of weeks or so, until the end of the month. Wohoooooooooo!

Just going solely on observations. I do live in a suburb filled with a good many mid-to-high income earners, so it may be that people have more money to spend on stuff like Apple Watches?
