Apple announced the new Series 1 and Series 2 models last month.

The original, 1st generation Apple Watch range doesn't have an official Series name but MR members have taken to calling them Series 0 to differentiate them from the new models.
Thanks Olly, much appreciated. (Had a feeling that might be the case, but wasn't sure if I was just making false speculations, or whether there was something to it, so thankyou for putting me out of my misery and clearing that one up!) lol.

Just me... most of my friends and family don't get it, and occasionally roll their eyes at me... they don't know what they're missing! They rare times I take my Watch off I feel naked

I notice alot of people on this forum referring to "series 1" as "series 0". The way I understood it was that the first models that came out were "series 1", and that this year's models that came out are "series 2". So at first I thought people writing "series 0" was just a common misunderstanding and that they just meant the first ever models to come out (which as far as I knew should be called the "series 1" http://www.apple.com/apple-watch-series-1/). But as here, I notice you have mentioned you have both a "series 0" and a "series 1", I am now beginning to question myself and wonder if perhaps I am missing something. Are there in fact models from the first series that were classed as "series 0"?
If so, what is the distinction between series 0 and series 1?

(This is not a criticism btw, I'm just trying to get my own facts straight. So would love to hear your thoughts on this).

Many thanks in advance.
First Generation = Series 0. They no longer sell this model. Apple simply calls the S0 "Apple Watch" which I think is very confusing since many people will call the new Apple Watch Series 2 by the much more practical name "Apple Watch."

They took the old AW and updated the processor and now call it Series 1. Everything else is the same between S0 and S1 except the faster processor.

The Series 2 is a redesigned watch that also has the updated processor. It includes GPS, a bigger battery, a thinner and brighter display, and is water proof. They've managed to make it look practically identical from the outside to the S0 and S1 though.

They have recently updated the support pages for the Apple Watch and it's now classified as the "1st generation".

I move through a crowd of around 200+ people a day, and additionally of course my friends, family, shopping trips, paying bills at places, banks, etc.

And I haven't ever even seen an Apple Watch yet. Other than online Apple sites.

They don't even exist on the local college campus that I frequent.

So I'd say they definitely haven't established Apple Watch interest in my community.

I have one, several people I work with have one and I have a client who bought everyone on their show team one. So I probably know at least 10 people who have them and have seen other people with them while traveling.

I see them, but only in certain places, like if I visit Disney World (live nearby) or the mall, trendy places, I see quite a few. If I go up to Walmart or McDonald's or the grocery, I see zero.

Thanks for your excellent input guys! It all makes sense once the logic behind it is explained. (I'm willing to bet that series 0 and 1st generation is going to still confuse one hell of alot of people at first, but at least when people mention either of those, I will now know what they're referring to. (or anyone else who wasn't sure and does a google search will perhaps be able to find your posts explaining it).

Either way, thanks to both of you for all the valuable info.

Much appreciated.;)

it's hardly that confusing.

a couple including me = me + 1 other
a couple not including me = 2 others
a few including me = me + 2 others
a few but i don't have one = 3 others

I have discovered that some people think "a couple" means 2, while others think "a couple" means pretty much the same thing as "a few." The difference is "couple" can include 2, while when you say "few," you probably mean at least 3.

Also, "a few" doesn't necessarily mean 3, I tend to think it means something in the range of 3~5. Or 6, or 7. Or 10. It totally depends on what we are talking about. You call an Apple Store and ask if any Watch shipments have come in, and they respond, "yes, we've got a few in." They could be talking a lot more than 10.

Well then they should be saying some, if they have that many.

A couple means two. Period. Although, I do agree with you that here few could be more than 3. Because 4 is hardly a lot.

I was more focusing on the numbers in the post I was replying to. Clearly a few ands couple are not the same, otherwise why would op include both options.

OP obviously thinks couple and few are different. That doesn't mean everyone thinks the same thing.

I was in a language class where the teacher used "couple" to translate a word that meant "pair." A discussion ensued where the majority of students thought that couple meant 2-3, or even 2-4.

My wife wants a 38mm SS. Best Buy doesn't even have an option to order one. I want a 42mm BSS. Best buy gives an option to check stores with no option to order and no stores have them.

Like I said, Apple and the way they handle the Apple Watch releases is pathetic.

I just bought my 38mm BSS off of the Macy's website so oddly enough they have them available but only online.
I agree that their stock and releases can be frustrating. I think the watch stock is a lot better than their phones - their new phones drive me crazy every year trying to call every Verizon store near me :/
ah the things we do for Apple

Do you own an  WATCH? Does anybody you know own one? How many?

I don't own one; nobody I know does.

My whole family is part of the Fitbit family. I am both Fitbit and AW since I love the look of the AW but love the fitness tracking of the Fitbit. Also price is a factor so they aren't willing to pay $300-700 for a "smart watch.

I have one, and a couple co-workers have them as well. I have seen actors wearing them in SVU, Pretty Little Liars etc. so celebs like them! I see few while running around doing daily things. Definitely see more iPhones than AW's

i checked a few plus me (thought a few meant more than 2?). myself, wife, mother and close friend. 4 total.

Saw four or five at a lunch buffet today and I wasn't even trying to check.

but... do you know these people?

way to add to the confusion! there is no "a few plus me" option, only "a few including me"...

but... do you know these people?

Nope, but plenty of other people have been giving similar answers.

Among my coworkers at this point last year, and before I retired from there this January, I was the fourth of at least six to own an Watch.

We had about 70 personnel, so that's almost a ten percent market penetration, which isn't too bad for such a device. There were more Watches than Garmins, Fitbits (surprisingly), and other smartwatches (I remember one Pebble and one Galaxy Gear, the big one with the curved screen).

I see a good number out in the wild, but when I have office hours a school many students have them .

Just going solely on observations. I do live in a suburb filled with a good many mid-to-high income earners, so it may be that people have more money to spend on stuff like Apple Watches?

Interesting points of view, among others. This poll is just a hoot, not scientific research or anything. I'd have thought that one is one, a couple is a pair, a few is more than a couple, but not a lot…… just what that is depends on your point of view, and that's what is more interesting to me, at least.

I live on an island where there are a lot of wealthy people. Some of my ex-students, most of whom are from modest backgrounds are working for companies selling multimillion dollar houses. A Rolls Royce showroom has recently opened across town, 3 or 4 km from where I live in a neighbourhood of cheap rental houses and apartments mainly occupied by students and working class folk. My income of about $850 a month is on the high side of average for the area; not likely to see an Apple Watch in the vicinity.

On campus, most staff students sport a smart phone of some description (I don't, and seldom even carry the basic $20 Nokia I own. It mostly stays at home), but relatively few students have their own computer. I have yet to see an Apple Watch there.

I do have a number of relatively wealthy friends and acquaintances, many of whom do use Macs, iPads, and iPhones, but I have yet to see any of them with an Apple Watch. I don't hang out in malls and the like enough to spot an Apple Watch in the wild.

With about 280 votes now, we seem to be steady on just over 27% of respondents not owning an Apple Watch.

I see them around quite a bit here and there. Saw someone with one at Walmart and on a plane the other day and have a few coworkers that have them as well. I see them a lot more now than I used to.
