I don't have a local Apple store so had to go to at&t. I called them thursday asking if they got any 64gbs. They said they only had silver. I stayed up to order the gold but it changed to the october delivery status by the time I checked out. I went to at&t and waited in line for about an hour and when it was my turn they said, "sorry, we only have grey." I was like "I called yesterday and you guys said you only had silver 64gbs." Apparently the at&t people mixed up grey with silver. I walked out with nothing, cancelled my gold order, and ended up ordering a silver model on apple. I'm still debating on the gold since it seems to look really nice from videos.

I had planned to go Silver this time round but only had the option of Space Grey. I'm now really glad I have the Space Grey. It looks much nicer in the flesh. I wouldn't judge the colour on the online images. You need to see it to appreciate how nice it is.

Space gray was always my first choice. I just can't see guys caring around white or gold phones. My AT&T store thought only had 64GB in space gray.
You can't see them? Get your eyes checked mate.

Well, I just think it looks feminine for a guy to carry around a white phone. Now it would be nice if the front was black and the back was silver. :D

Nothing is wrong with looking feminine. Way to judge a book by its cover.

I could never settle on a product I'm going to own for 2 years just to have it one week earlier. If they didn't have the color I wanted, I'd just leave empty handed. To each their own I suppose ;)

I too am baffled how anyone can settle for a colour they didn't want in the first place especially when spending so much money and having to stick with what ever they got for such a long time. I maybe cynical but I also don't believe so many people who settled for the slate grey ended up actually liking it and are happy with their choice even if that's what they say.

When Apple announced to the line they were out of gold and silver for AT&T, I left. I ran all over town trying to find the silver, because that was what I really wanted. I ended up getting a silver later in the day from Best Buy.

I thought about settling for space gray because really, it looks nice too, but I knew in the long run, I just wouldn't be happy. My iPad is white and I like for it to match. I'm glad I waited and would have placed the order if I hadn't found it in town.

I have an option right now of buying a Space grey and having it in my hands within a couple hours ..... i have an order for a white / silver one with Apple ....

I'm waiting ... thought about it ... main reason for me in longevity ... seeing the shots last year of how the darker metal started scratching and scuffing more made my choice ...

I like my tech to stay pretty pristine... i don't look after it particularly well but nor am i careless and i do take small steps to keep it clean and not come into contact with other metal objects

I just think the silver weathers the wear better ... plus iOS7 feels better to ne with a lighter tone wallpaper and that suits white/silver better.

I was struggling between gray and silver.

I was 12th in line at the Apple store, and silver wasn't an option at that point. So my decision was made for me.

I am glad it was. I couldn't be happier.

I queued with the intention of buying white/silver, (I was around 15th in the queue) and while waiting the Apple staff started doing all the new advertising material and the new phones were being attached to the display tables and they gave us a sneaky peak.

Seeing them first hand made me change to the space grey, white/silver looks just like a 5, gold isn't my thing (though it wasn't as bad as I feared) and the grey looks the best IMO. The sides don't appear to be anodised, it's like bare aluminium, like the 4s was, so should be far more hard wearing.

I was offered all 3 colours when the cards were handed out, so stock must have been at least 15-20 of each colour at the store I was at.

The 16GB models went out of stock in the order Gold/Grey/Silver. I didn't hear how the order went for the 32GB's as they were too far down the queue to hear.

I settled. Was planning on getting Silver, but still wanted to check out the gold and space grey.

Turns out I actually liked the Space Grey a lot. Although I might have gotten the gold if they had it. I really liked the gold except for the home button ring which I think should have been white (Like it is black on the space grey phone.)

I settled. After waiting for nine hours outside of the store, I wasn't about to leave empty handed. I still love the silver ring around the home button on the silver phone and the gold also looked nice in person.

That being said, Space Grey really grew on me. It's not that I didn't like it, I just wanted a white face this time around as I tend to alternate every year and had a black iPhone 5. The grey actually looks really sleek and, for some odd reason, I like the way it looks when light hits its bezel while I'm using it. Think I might stick with it.

You need to man up, if you can't have a white phone and wear a pink shirt I think it's you that has the problem

Signed. Manly man

Ps I have a space grey because they were out of white

Not sure how many people have actually handled the phones but the gold and a the silver are very close, my eyes are great and I had to hold them together to fully see the difference

I saw a family friend's Space Grey 5S yesterday, and I won't be settling for it. Definitely want a white fronted phone.

I'll be looking at the gold and silver in store before I buy, and will get whichever looks better to me in person. Think it'll be the gold though. As I said in another topic, I won't settle when I'm paying over £600 for a phone. Capacity is also 32GB or nothing, as I'm outgrowing my 16GB 4 now and don't want to struggle with storage for 2+ years just to get a 5S slightly sooner.

I've owned all white iPads and iPhones the past couple of years. I bought the space grey and I must admit the black front is much better than the white. When the device is off it looks even sleeker too.

I'm in a slightly warmer climate so a white-ish phone is a must for me. I've had too many "overheat" problems with black face phones.

I "settled," but not quite in the same way that you mention. I have always had a white iPhone, since the original 3G. I've never had a black one. My wife has had black. I wanted gold. My wife said she wanted gold ;). Since gold and white have the same front color (white), I figured I would use this year as an opportunity to get black (space gray), that way face-up we can quickly tell the difference between the two phones. So yes - I settled... but not because of stock!

I originally got "silver" in line for the ticket, but I changed my mind last minute for Space Grey. I originally wanted Gold, but none were in stock in my area.

I want a poll to see how many people took a space gray knowing they will return it to get another color within the return window.

I'd like to thank them for being great people!

I "settled" as well although I was between space grey and gold the whole time. Ended up loving it and truly think it's the best color an iPhone has been made in to date.

I've had a white 4s for the last 2 years.
I was happy to go back to a dark coloured phone- Space Grey FTW!

Slate grey was the only option for me.

A black screen was a requirement. That's only choice.

If it were a black and gold option. I'd have been all over that.

I settled, but only because the Apple rep said I could exchange it within 30 days for either the gold or silver.

I've got a carbon stained cherry wood wrap on it and it looks fantastic, but I'll do the exchange in a couple of weeks because I know the gold will enhance the wood color.
