How often do you use the universal search? I personally never use it, I remember it being one of the big features in 3.0 but I feel that it isn't really that necessary.

I haven't used it yet. It will probably be the same thing as Spotlight on my Macs, I've used it only once or twice in the 3 years it's been available.

Without the ability to search bodies of emails it is useless for me.

    What poll?

And never. I can see where it might be handy for some if you have a lot of emails or contacts but I don't have the problem.

I use it fairly often on my Mac, too. Not hardcore every everyday, but still pretty often.

When I'm running 3.0 or 3.1, I never use it. I wouldn't really be sad if it wasn't there at all. There's never anything I need to do a global search for. I mean, if I want to find an email, I can search in Mail... if I need a note, I can search in notes.... if I want to find a song, you get the idea. Most of the time I'm already in the app that I want to search in.

In my opinion, I don't need 90% of the changes in 3.0. I'm using 2.2.1 right now and I couldn't be happier.

Since I don't use my Mac for work, I really have nothing to search for. I know where all my files are. If I'm in a folder with thousands of files, I'll start typing the file name to locate it, but I don't use Spotlight.

But, I guess if you consider using the search in iTunes or Mail as Spotlight, then yes, I use that on my Mac at least once a week.

Ya, don't get me wrong - I Finder it up most of the time.

But it's funny ... when I want to launch an app, I use Spotlight. Or if I want to change/find a system pref, I use Spotlight. Stuff like that.

    Good poll, by the way.

I think you're going to get a lot of bites with this one.

I found that by limiting the parameters to skip iPod stuff, video, music, podcasts and audiobooks, it works much faster and cleaner. You should also organize the search for what you want first. I have Mail first priority then Contacts, Calendar, Notes and Applications.

Damit Spaz, get off the 2.2.1 horse already. I know it was good, but give it a rest.

I never use it but wonder if that's cos it's still new - maybe I'll use it more and more as time passes.

I still really want the ability to search within a webpage. Off topic but still.

I've played with it, but I don't think I've ever actually used it to find something I needed. On my mac I use spotlight occasionally to find files when I don't remember the name or what folder I saved them in, but there's no real need for that on the iPhone.

I hardly use it, but I think it's a great feature to have nonetheless

I use spotlight on my mac only to open an application that's not on my dock, and one that I need to use temporarily

I'm on the 3G, so there is a slight delay when I want to navigate to a certain contact to call using the Contact app or launching the phone function.

Using spotlight, I'll quick navigate to the contact's name by typing in two alphabets, selecting it, clicking on the cellphone number. Personally I find this reduces some effort for me in a sense.

Have not used it once out of need. End up in the search screen all the time by accident. I have played with it for fun and seems to find everything.

I've used it maybe once just to try it, but besides that - never.
