I have a Galaxy Nexus, and unlimited data. If I want to get the 5 I would need to buy it off contract to keep unlimited. I want to, but it's a lot of money :/ What should I do?

Honestly? Sit down and figure out how much data you use. Would your overages total $450+ over the lifetime of the contract? If yes, and you want the phone, buy it. If not, signing a new contract would be worth it.

Anywhere from 6-10 GB a month is average for me.

If I do upgrade I'll be coming from a Droid Incredible. Probably the best phone I've ever had the chance to own (and longest lasting phone too) But as many others have stated if the phone is only taller and not wider, my new phone probably won't be an iphone.

Ok, but that didn't really answer my question. How much are you paying monthly for your line?

Unlimited Talk/Text and 8GB data is $90 per month. $100 gets you 10GB.

I would guess you spend around $70 per month, am I close? So for an extra $20-30 you are right around where you are now. Keep in mind, you can also swap your plans around, so if you see you are using much less one month, you can change to a cheaper plan before your bill posts to save some coin. $20 per month increase would be $360 in an 18 month period and $30 per month increase would be $540 over 18 months (I am quoting 18 months because you can often upgrade again at full subsidized pricing after you have that many months of your contract behind you).

Keep in mind, once you are off contract, there is nothing requiring VZW to keep honoring your unlimited plan. I am not trying to say that they are going to do anything with it, but it would certainly be within their right to do so.

I've had the 4 for about two years now. Does everything I need it to except it's starting to show it's age. The 4S wasn't that big of an upgrade for me. 720P video and 5MP camera is good enough already, still beats most of the new smartphone cameras today.

I really want to see it first before fully deciding whether to keep my 4S.

I'm on T-Mobile though so if we get it and I can get one subsidized then I'll upgrade no matter what, if only for the faster data speeds.

The last time I kept a phone for over a year was my first iPhone the iPhone 3G. Ever since then I've been able to sell my old model to pay for most or maybe the full cost of the newest one. Apple makes it so easy to upgrade too since everything from your old iPhone easily restores to the new one.

Using a $20 Samsung SGH-a157 GoPhone for now

I have the 3Gs, i got this just under 2 years ago on a 2 year contract.
When i got the 3GS it was still a good phone and decided to pick it over the new 4 as the 3GS was free and still a great model.

2 years on my 3gs is slow battered and the lock button just doesnt work lol.

I was going to get the 4s on a 2 year contract, as its a great phone, but i have learned my lesson from last time and going to get the 5 instead!

Similar story. I have owned my iPhone 4 for over two years now (got it when it launched here in July (second wave)).

The device itself works fine, but I can now upgrade anytime I want. I'll see what Apple announces and than I'll device what I'll do.

I'm satisfied with the iPhone 4's camera, but I consider the iPhone 4S' camera to be a bit better, though. I would be happy if the next-gen iPhone is just as good as the 4S' camera. I'd like to get video stabilisation, though, as that is one of the things I'm currently missing. Secretly, I'm also hoping for built-in panorama support.

I couldn't care less, though, about 4G LTE.

I have a Galaxy Note. While I love that it has a big screen, the size is really unnecessary now that I don't actually use it to draw anymore. Plus I really miss having an iPhone. It was a fun 6-8 months but... I'll be happy to return. Plus I'm on Straight Talk, so I've no contract terms to worry about.

I agree.

If they are only stretching the phone so as to keep the same width, that's not an upgrade, that's an oddball phone.

No way would I buy such nonsense.

Apple is in decline.

No longer a class act, they are an embarrassment.

And you're saying all of this without actually having held the phone and without knowing all that it can do?

He's just an Apple hater here to annoy us. He needs to get a life.

(Let me be clear, I'm fine with people that have criticism's of Apple...we all should. What is annoying is people that come in with their mind set on hating everything Apple does and post here just to stir things up.)

iPhone 4 and HTC Sensation. I'll be replacing the iPhone 4 with the iPhone 5 so I can enjoy both iOS and Android goodness.

I'm currently using an HTC Incredible II and will definitely be upgrading to the iPhone 5. In all honesty, this has been a dependable little phone and never gave me any problems until I did the last update. Now sometimes random letters will stick when I'm trying type something. But other than that I'd have to say it's been the best Droid I've had so far.

My reason for switching is because I'm just tired of Android. Sure it has lots of positive features, but I'm just tired of the messy, unorganized aspect of it. And as I mentioned earlier, my current phone is the only Droid that hasn't been a pretty big pain in the a** as far as malfunctions and not working properly goes. I've had problems with all the others. I went through four months and eight Thunderbolts when I did my last upgrade - all that had the same major problems that left me unable to use them like I should have been able to. I finally told them I wanted to be put into a new model, and this Incredible II was what I got. I look forward to the iPhone being a lot more dependable.

In addition to that, I've always been impressed by the iPhone's camera. I take a lot of pictures on my phone so that's a big plus for me. There also seems to be a lot of apps I'd love, so that will be nice. And I've always loved the overall appearance and form factor of the iPhone. I realize that will be changing a bit with the new one, but I also realize that I can't expect it to never change. Compared to other phones out there that drastically change with each reincarnation, the iPhone still manages to look recognizable.

So that's about it! I'm super excited for it to be released and will be pre-ordering through Verizon as soon as they begin accepting them!
