I'm rather partial to all the G3 and G4 towers(a look around my collection might give some indication of that :) )

I have to agree with the above comments, though, about the late beige towers.

The 8600 and 9600 used the same case, albeit with a different logic board. The G3s used a shorter version of the same design. This case is a masterpiece of engineering and incredibly easy to work on(unless you need to route cables :) ). The desktop versions of these computers share many of the same properties, although I find them more fragile and they also lack the real estate present in the towers.

Of course, for serviceability it's hard to beat the "oven door" G3s and G4s.

In general, though, I just like Macs :) -especially PowerPC ones.

speaking of G3 beiges I just finished setting up 10.1.5 on my G3 beige (it has a USB card and a Rage 128 in it heh) it is kinda Laggy tbh (as in the GUI lags it kinda reminds me of Leopard on a PPC mac with out optimisations)

iMac G4 by far. I mean, just look at it!

apple_imac_fp.jpg

Here is a little story on the iMac G4.... Each year I fly into Columbus around 2-3 times, when you exit/enter the airport, there was/is a little art museum, one year I decided to actually go in, (pretty sure I was in like 3rd grade at the time) I looked around and on a pedestal, sat an iMac G4! They had these at my school, so I instantly recognized it, I went over and started messing with the screen, (I thought/still think that the screen was the coolest part of them) there was no keyboard or mouse so I just left after the bags were checked. Around 3 years later, I finally decided to actually examine it. I didn't check the specs, but there was a power cord, so I pressed the power button, BONG! I was so shocked it actually came on, it ran Tiger and due to the lack of mouse, that was about as far as I got. When we came back in to fly out, it was still on and displayed the "Flurry" screen saver. I went over and turned it off, and went home. This summer when I went up the airport was renovated and no more iMac... I just find it cool to think that it was considered a piece of art in way, surrounded by paintings, but it was the centerpiece!

The G4 iMac is the only iMac I actually like. I've never owned one, but I've always liked the design.

My fav was the G3 AIO.
My first task when starting as a service tech was moving a lab of AIOs, maybe 40? Some needed some hardware work, but ALL needed moving. You learn about balance, and get pretty stiff after a day of moving those 60 pound behemoths around.
Crummy things to work on if you couldn't get one to power up, which, IIRC, was a common fault.
(I didn't say they were a good memory :D )

G5 obviously! A Dual 2.0 with no plastic shield works great as a hairdryer! I have yet to try an MDD! Those may win lol!!! It's a joke btw don't expect to use one as a hair dryer lol

Power Mac G4 Cube…… Because I liked the idea of something small enough to be occasionally easily transportable, without being a portable. Laptops didn't do it for me and still don't. I didn't get one because I didn't really have the need for a computer at the time.

Mac Mini G4……… As above, and I got one, the first computer I ever owned, because I wanted to do more work from home. It was adequate for my purposes (as a teacher), though did have its shortcomings, which showed up as technology moved on and my needs increased. When the HDD and power supply failed after about four years, it seemed more cost effective to replace it with the early 2009 Mini, which I am still using.

I voted iMac G3 because that's the Mac that made me take another look at the platform. Before then Macs were in my eyes, boring and weird, for middle aged people in the desktop publishing business. I remember feeling pity for a friend because his family computer was a Mac on System 7, with a weird one button mouse and barely any games... way inferior to the Windows 95 PC we had. Early-mid 90s Apple was pretty terrible.

It's difficult to describe how much Jobs and Ive turned around Apple. Comparing a dour Performa to the cute iMac was night and day. One look and I was smitten.

MDDs are great performers, but they produce quite a bit of heat too. The dual 1.25 and 1.42 blows out just about the amount of heat a G5 will.

iBook G3/G4
iMac G3/G5
PowerMac G4, Yikes, Sawtooth, Digital Audio, Mirrored-Drive-Door
PowerMac G5, all models

^^^^This is not to say I hate what they can do, or how they perform. I have owned and do own some of these models. My 'hate' stems from the fact that I do not care for the look of these models.

There's only been certain models of Mac that I have ever been attracted to as far as design and those I've named already.

I actually really dislike the Quicksilver and MDD PowerMac G4's, simply because of the case design. I think the Digital Audio looked much better. There's just something about all that grey and silver; it's just cold, or something to that effect. I don't know, there's just something about it that puts me off.

Well, I know not everyone shares my opinion. We don't see it the same but I respect your viewpoint.

For a home / tinker machine, I love the iMac G4, because it has all the right things for an all-in-one. A movable monitor, that futuristic flower pot aesthetic, it just so well matched the styling of the time.

However, for performance, I would have to say any 1.42 GHZ Dual MDD or 1.5GHZ Powerbook takes the cake!

Of the Macs i own, I'm going to have to say the PBG4s. They really are great and I love to use them. Overall, I'd say the iMac G4. Its a one of a kind computer that I dont think Apple or anyone else will make again. It's a beautiful machine, with the futuristic design, that would still be pretty damn cool even to this date, and back when it first came out, it was breathtaking. If only apple remade it as an iMac Classic, and stuck an i5 in it :D

Someone does that on eBay with a bunch of different PPCs, he put the mobo from a MBA into a clamshell, looks stunning

I believe @Goftrey said at the end of his latest video on YouTube that he would be taking the guts out of an iMac G4 and turning it into an external monitor, which I would absolutely do myself if it seems like a remotely easy and inexpensive task.

This is a tough one - I love what I call the "style series" - the iMac G4, Power Mac G4 Cube, and Titanium PowerBook G4. (Note: I'd separate the Ti from the Al PBG4s, as well as separating the "Clamshell" iBook from the poly/white iBook G3 from the iBook G4, and the Cube from the tower G4s.)

I picked the iMac G4 simply because it was the only one that you had its own separate listing for.

To all the eMac fans, why do you like them so much more than, say, the iMac G4? I happen to have 2 eMacs (700MHz, 1.25GHz), and they aren't anything too special to me. I'd much prefer to have an iMac G4 because of the sleek design, vs a heavy block.

I'm not dissing the eMac, they have their bonuses, like their kickin' speakers, and their super high res and beautiful CRT, but its still a heavy and clunky white tank, lol.
