I thought the apple store would have it first day at least?? So no white iPhones at all first day??

Fact is... there has been no official word saying there will be or won't be. Period.

We don't know if they will or won't. Anyone saying otherwise is only speculating.

Edit: To clarify, what I mean is that the black iPhone has been in manufacturing for weeks now. Let's say for the sake of argument it took them 4 weeks to build up a stock of 600,000 units for launch day. Now then, as many of you have pointed out, the white iPhone probably had a manufacturing snag. That's all good and fine, but if you say for example they spent 3 weeks fixing it, they could still manufacture 150,000 units before launch day. So the question being posed in this thread is not "do you think the white iPhone has an engineering flaw" but rather "do you think they will have any on launch day", which of course it could even if they had to do some last minute tweaking to the design.

If Apple has in fact been able to produce some white units by now, what's holding them back from announcing it already?

Then again... when has apple ever felt the need to explain themselves?

It's not so much the need as the benefit we're talking about, isn't it? In other words, what would Apple gain by NOT announcing the availability of the white iPhone 4 on launch day if they really had it ready by now (even in small quantity)?

Part of me still believes Apple will start pre-orders on Wednesday night, lol. Apple probably does have white iPhones in stock, but not as much as the black. The reason why I think they aren't saying anything yet is because Apple doesn't know if they can fulfill the demand. I'm not getting my hopes up though. Thursday or not, I'm gonna wait for the white iPhone :)

Called the Apple store at the Domain (Austin, TX) and Adam (a guy in a blue shirt I guess) said, there will be no White iPhone 4s on launch day.

Called happened at 11:20am centeral time.

I'm still holding onto a glimmer of hope that my BestBuy preorder for 32gb white will come through, but I'm pretty sure I'm screwed.

It's very smart, and very simple marketing. If Apple says nothing one way or another, that's going to be an extra few people who show up at a retail store Thursday morning. If people show up and no white iPhone, they might be swayed to buy black and not wait.

on one hand im not too suprised by the response of the apple store ee but i was hoping that maybe starting today apple would have more info about the white im hoping by sometime today we will have something official. if not today then its probley going to be the day before release. this sucks:(
