One of my faves too (pomegranate that is :p).

Could you maybe say you "empty" a pomegranate?

Pomegranates?? Mmmm, right, about 50 years ago.

I would imagine they would be the fruit of choice for people giving up smoking. Plenty to do with your hands.

I love them too. Does anyone eat the seeds? I see them use them in salads but I just pop them in my mouth and suck out the juice, spitting out the seeds. I was on a business trip once installing some equipment at a tower location and there was an old abandoned house. I went exploring and guess what I found, a pomegranate tree with fruit on it. My other favorite fruits are fresh pineapple, Kiwi (my favorite) and Honey Crisp apples.

don't ripe pomegranates have a brown exterior?

im not totally sure because i ate one the other day (first time actually eating one, i love drinking the juice) and it was brown on the outside and had a WEIRD WHITE (wired while) core.

o... back on the subject.
popping?

edit:
Weird white core.

I like drinking them :) never eaten one though.

its defiantly different and makes you realize why the juice is so expensive, dam things are hard to get out.

o i edited my post (someone knew what i was talking about, TuffLuffJimmy )
Weird White core

No- if it's brown, it's rotten. And yes, I eat the seeds too. They're great.

Pomegranate juice is very good - if you can find the quality stuff; great for mixing at the very least.

I'm just getting into pears again - I used to love them ages ago and I forgot them.

I can't eat a pomegranate without ruining every piece of clothing I have on. :)

Another reason to cut it in half while submerged in a bowl of cold water, and then 'de-seed' it - you wont get any of the juices flying everywhere. :)

you don't how many days doe sit take you to finish a pomegranate?lol:rolleyes:

2 hours.

The best part of eating a pomegranate is when you have a friend, split it in half and have a pomegranate war. The least red one wins.

Also, a friend from Guatemala swears that if you spray it in your eye it'll cure pink eye..

well it defiantly was not rotten it was even almost sweet in some parts.

ya i ate the seeds.
but what about all that white stuff? i defiantly did not eat it.

so...
how do you pick a ripe pomegranate?

I am so spoiled, my girlfriend's mom seeds pomegranates pretty often because they make jam with it. They have all these bags of seeds, so i can eat my fill whenever I want! Now I'm curious, what's the correct method for eating the seeds? I always chew them up until I end up with a bunch of white seeds and then I spit that out. It's pretty messy.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5G77 Safari/525.20)

I have never tried the fruit before, but I've heard it's heavenly!
I heard pom. Smirnoff tastes good :D

I have one every now and then, pain in the arse but sometimes it's just nice to spend a little time doing something like that indulging one's OCD tendencies, getting every seed out.

They're also another reason to wear black and only black!

:) I have a garden full of them at the moment, the wild sort - slightly bitter but great with yoghurt! Here we don't scoop or pick them, we just crush them with our hands into a cup or a bowl.

I love them but I only ever tackle them topless. I am useless at scooping (?) without making a mess.

Great, thanks for the craving, dude! :p I will have to get one of these next time I see one.
