I'd like to talk over the question of trademark, etc., but really who cares here? I am curious as to the psychology of the Android fan who likes to hang around talking smack about Apple on an Apple site.

I mean, I'm not remotely interested in hanging around an Android fan site. Not to disparage Android, it's not my thing. Why would I hang around such a site calling its fans all kind of names? I can't think of a single reason.

many of us like apple products, but don't necessarily agree with everything Apple does
I like both OS's but would likely be labeled an ios hater

Yes, there are numerous reasons why Apple should protect their intellectual property, even if they are flattered that someone likes their look.

Lost sales due to confusion is one.
Brand dilution is another. What if this app (or some other app which copies Apple look and feel) was crashy and unreliable? Someone might think it was an actual Apple product and think "Apple isn't so great. I'm not buying their products."
There is also the concept of trademark erosion, where one company's trademark becomes used so commonly in other places, and the company fails to stop it from happening, then it is no longer a protected trademark.

Uh, I think you meant to reply the the other guy?

Because they're better than Android icons?

To each his/her own.

People with Windows want their Windows to look and feel like OS X, yet I have not seen anyone who wants their OS X to look and feel like Windows.

People with Android want their Android to look and feel like iOS, yet I have not seen anyone who wants their iOS to look and feel like Android.

iOS7 is step forward to me IMO. When I look at iOS6 now it feels like going back from OS X to OS 9.

Some people like choices. Some people are happy with what the manufacturer offers. Personally I don't see this eating into sales or damaging the iPhone that much.

On the same subject, it looks like Google has removed other iOS 7 related themes, lockscreens and conversions as well. There's not as many as last week that's for sure.

The real mystery is who would actually want those awful iOS 7 icons on their phone?

Good one brah.

----------

I like the iOS 7 icons.

Some of you people would bitch if you were hung with a new rope I swear...

Never happy.

This. They were mad with the same old icons then they're mad when they're new. Can't please everyone, especially habitual complainers.

And isn't iOS 7 a bit of a rip of Android in the first place? I realize this Seven theme is a direct copy.. but still. Apple should have to pull iOS 7 first.

You are joking right? Because Android have actually exclusivity on flat design? iOS 7 is iOS 6 with a flattened design! And please don't get me started on who copied who to start with because we all know.

I seriously cant believe you ask that. Android (doesn't matter how you customize it) is still a mess! So yes, first thing I would do if I bought a device that I think is better then iPhone is, choose a theme that is similar to iOS (preferably iOS 7)

Now you got the answer.

I have not seen anyone who likes iOS 7's look or hates the Android Holo/Stock look.

I think iOS 7 looks like Android Lite with a bad theme, while classic iOS looks like OS X Touch.

Early OS X's look was flawed, but it was very bold and at least didn't feel like Windows 2000 Lite.

Don't copy, steal.

The app creators should've taken the iOS 7-style skin and arranged the icons in a circle or something, change the icons (make them better), I don't know. Just don't make it look exactly like iOS 7!

I think it's a wasted opportunity. I like iOS 7's bladed design, the whole frosted glass and parallax thing. I absolutely hate the plain-text look of apps and the flat icon design. It would've been cool if the app allowed you to mix and match what we liked from iOS 6 and iOS 7, while keeping it differentiated enough with say, a different color scheme.

Alas, we may never know. Still, anyone know if you can skin an S4 with this (without rooting), just in case they let the app back in? I'm new to the Android world...:p

I understand the whole copyright issue here, I just think it was dumb of Google to pull the whole app over a singular theme. Send the developer a message about the issue, let them resolve it and move on. The only case I can see why the entire app would be pulled is if Google gave the developer some time to drop the theme and they didn't.

The problem here is that if Google doesn't pull it immediately, they can be on the hook for copyright infringement, together with the developer. Apple should be easily able to get a ruling for $150,000 and possibly more if they play hard. Of course against a little developer who doesn't have any money, that's not worth the effort (Apple got a $2 million ruling against Psystar but probably didn't get a penny. Nor did Psystar's lawyers get paid ). But getting Google into court for copyright infringement, that would be something else.

Apple are just getting pathetic now.

If I steal your wallet, would people call you "pathetic" if you wanted it back? Or would they say "Man up, you should be flattered that he liked your wallet that much"?

and now it's back!

While they may have pulled it, I got an Update notification on my copy of Themer just yesterday.

My guess is they pulled the fauxpple design out, and issued an update, which allowed them to be posted to the Google Play Store again.

Not really the same thing is it? Just look how much Apple has stolen feature wise from jailbreak apps, did Apple pay the devs of said apps/features??
