But we can’t get around the point that the first generation Apple Watch is a very limited piece of technology that, at least to my mind, has not even a killer app.

"Very limited", compared to what? It's a whole new category. It already has a lot of functions. Most reviews I've read call it "very ambitious".

I wish the battery lasted longer, but in reality I have no issues throwing the watch on the charger every night just like I do with my phone. The ritual is already established, and I get a lot of mobile computing in return. I'd love GPS and cellular on board, but I don't "expect" it out of the gate.

So, out running with just the watch, listening to some music on the watch, can you tell what the weather is going to be like later in the day with just the watch right now?

From the Apple Watch Programming Guide:
Apple Watch and Its Paired iPhone

Apple Watch requires the presence of an iPhone to run third-party apps. To create a third-party app, you need two separate bundles: a WatchKit app (that runs on Apple Watch) and a WatchKit extension (that runs on the user’s iPhone). The WatchKit app contains only the storyboards and resource files associated with your app’s user interface. The WatchKit extension contains the code for managing the WatchKit app’s user interface and for responding to user interactions.

That why I said that Apple is probably too idealistic for the current state of technology. Limited in the sense that it won’t execute most of the code itself, but rely on the nearby iPhone, meaning that your iPhone will still have to be in your pocket most of the time and that this connection is one of the bottlenecks of the platform (hence the loading times). There is lots of potential for a wearable, but the computing power and battery life just isn’t there yet to make things really interesting. It reminds me a lot of the first iPhone, before the SDK and the App Store and the raw processing power of the iPhone 3GS and onwards.

So that's 100% concrete for certain, other than whats on the watch NOW, when you buy it new, there are zero apps that will run on just the watch when you are out with just the watch on it's own?

No exceptions?
No Devs with Special Apple approved privilege?

None at all?

None.

Apple is probably still building out an SDK, and will most likely release it at WWDC alongside iOS 9.

Why does Flipboard have a Watch app? This is the problem I see coming, some developers just don't get the form factor.

Because for each such app there will be users pleading developers for adding a support for Apple Watch.

Yes, Clear does support iCloud. I use the Mac version of the app when writing my lists often.

From the short research I've done it looks like it syncs iCloud data between devices, but not actual iCloud Reminders made in the Reminders app or with Siri. That's the killer thing for me right there. I own Clear but deleted it and haven't used it in a couple years.

Cool! I use WU and am very happy about the latest update for iPhone. I wonder if they're have just as nice looking widgets/glances for the weather and the radar available to put in Glances. That'd be really great!

Radar glances would be incredibly useful—especially for those of us who live in the midwest during severe storm season. "Was that a firework or thunder?" For those who don't know, you can't always just look outside to know if a storm is coming. It could be completely sunny with a sneaky anvil cloud racing up from the southwest and within 15 minutes go dark, then green, then tornado. Sometimes the storm will just pop up on top of you. It's a whole lot of fun. Having quick access to keep an eye on the situation would be really helpful. I use the radar widgets a ton already. The new WU update makes the widgets look better and it finally supports my huge iPhone. I just wish it could show the weekly forecast at the bottom instead—or not waste so much precious widget space. It's clean but not very functional.
