Positioning of the "the"?

Right, i have a simple question.

I'm making a logo for someone but i'm having trouble deciding on the best position of the word "the" so i've thrown a couple of jpegs together to see what people think.

Where should the, "the" go?

1. The positioning is more unexpected, it's eyecatching and grabbed me immediately.

3 may look nice, but it doesn't do anything for me.

At first glance, #1 appealed most to me. #3 is also very nice. I don't like #2 or #4 very much at all in comparison.

I prefer #1.

#2, IMO, is just that.

#3 is alright, but not as catchy as #1.

#4 is just two times #2.

But why are they all black?
