So far... (2 days and counting)

I'm loving mine. Responsive, quiet, great screen. Had a few minor software issues at first (probably due to the whirlwind of installations) but it now seems to be rock solid and runs cool as well.

I'm also pleasantly surprised at the 1920x1200 res - works and looks very well, and I also am using the gFX thingy to keep it on internal for increasing battery life. As I don't care two hoots about gaming (honest) and am reasonable in my expectations, I'm finding it to be more than capable. If I need the extra hp of the dedicated graphics, that's there, but for now I'll be the decision maker on which card is used.

Also, initial concerns about whether 256Gb was enough have been laid to rest - my old SSD (240Gb OCZ Vertex 2) in a USB3 caddy is very fast and feels to all intents and purposes as fast as if it were an internal drive. So anything non-essential can live on that drive and I can always add more if I need them :)

So, count me in as a happy customer (who hasn't checked for dead pixels or any of that stuff - don't want to open that can of worms, so better not looking for flaws lest I find some... :)

Loving my 2.7/16/768!

Just got a CTO 2.7/16/768 ordered via Expercom (no sales tax + discount) yesterday and it's performing like a dream.

Been using it all morning and could not be happier. Migrated from a 2011 MacBook Air and also have a 2.7 GHz i7 iMac 27". The screen on the rMBP is incredible, as is the speed, the keyboard, and everything else so far.

Boot time and startup is incredible. I'm still not used to *not* waiting on a restart.

I process 36MP RAW files in Lightroom with minimal page-outs, if any. :D

Magsafe is killer. It actually works, unlike the old L-shape.

I heard the fan for the first time last night exporting a ~250MP panorama.

I also use my MacBook Pro for Lightroom 4 and to hear that it works like a beast for it is great news. I will getting the 2.6GHz Model of the rMBP in roughly two weeks.

Great feedback guys. I just received word that my rMBP (2.7/16/768) has shipped. Weird that it went from ‘processing’ straight to ‘shipped’ so no cancelling for me. I know I can always return it within 19 days or whatever it is, I just hope I won’t have 2!

Really wish it has ML preinstalled, but I know that’s most likely not going to happen.

Best computer of all time. Period.

Coming from MBP3,1 (mid '07, the first one with LED backlit), the rMBP (10,1) is a beast. Surprise surprise! I have it for almost one week now and I’m testing it thoroughly (luckily being in summer holidays so I have enough time right now). Prior I’ve been using all kinds of computers for decades.

One of the best things: Despite of all the incredible power (yes, it’s FAST) it’s completely SILENT like an iPad (as long as you do not REALLY heavy jobs like watching 4K videos and then you have merely a non-obstructive pink noise without any humming or whining).

I’ve never been so happy with a technical device before (okay I have some classic cars but they NEED maintenance).

I watch movies for long period of time.. 3+ hours some days and it still does a great job of handling it. It does get pretty warm but the fan is quiet unlike my 2010 MBP.

I love mine, I am a screen freak, with the iP4s, iPad 3...and now this, every screen I look at his perfect. My 2011 pro that I replaces bothered me (screen-wise) after I would be on my iPad...not anymore!

Exactly the same situation for me. I love the rMBP: I can't keep the silly grin off of my face when I'm looking at this beautiful screen. I thought that my Air's screen looked great, but when I had the two side by side, I ws shocked at how washed out the Air's screen looked.

OP, I've followed the forums for a while, and on every Apple release, there's a lot of excitement as people are receiving their devices, and then the problems start rolling in, but it's a minority of users. Certainly, I would (and have) complained when I had an issue, but as others have said: the people with issues are generally (and usually rightly) the ones who are posting the most. Overall, the rMBP is a great machine.

I had held off from getting a MBP because I wanted the resolution of the 17", but I wanted the size of the 15": now, I have it with the rMBP. :)

It's a great computer, but not perfect. I think most of my gripes are with Lion's subpar performance than the rMBP. The resolution of the rMBP highlights some of the inefficiencies of Lion.

The screen is amazing, the computer is beautiful, it's a superb piece of work.

My #1 gripe is heat, it gets rather hot when playing a game or doing 3D work. The "G" key heats up to the point where I don't like pressing it. I know it's not a gaming machine, but it has the hardware to do it, so... your call I guess on how that should work.

Negativity overshadows positive outcomes in some situations. Most of the time its on this forum

This is the best machine I have ever owned! No buyers remorse whatsoever!

You will love your machine when you get it.

If my wife wasn't such an awesome person, I would marry this machine! :)

Loving it! My first mac and it is amazing. The screen, speakers, speed and how thin it is is crazy!

lol. Seriously though, most of the people with a good experience have no need to post or search the forums unless they are a regular. A lot of the people who end up here are through google searches b.c of problems.

No probs here, perfect display, 8:30 battery life after a charge, amazing speed, runs Pro Tools like a Mac Pro.

I love mine. I'm coming from a 17" MBP and had been disappointed that there was no new 17" model, but the 15" rMBP has exceeded my expectations in every way. It's a fantastic machine.

Love it! I did have one random restart. if the problem persists I will return it when the wait times on these isn't so insane. This is one beautiful machine. I haven't noticed any lag. The only issue is that cs5 and Cinema 4d icons look awful right now.

3 or 4 days with mine and still loving it! Can't get over how awesome it is. Honestly, Mountain Lion GM makes this laptop really scream :)

eight seconds? Wow! My rMBP take 16 seconds to boot. I don't want to quibble over such quick boot times, but maybe I've got more login items. I thought mine was fast, but your's smokes. :)

It depends on when you count as the official restart time. If you count from the second you select restart in the apple menu it should take about 14-16 seconds. If you count from the time you hear the restart chime it should take between 8-10 seconds.

Oh, I see. Thank you. :)

You have to remember that when going to sites like this 9/10 times people are going to complain about a product versus making a thread praising it.

Not true. There's a little thing called cognitive dissonance. When people spend $2,200 on a new computer they are rationalizing in favour of their purchase not against, unless very major problems appear in the computer. This is reflected in sites like this one.

This. 2.6/16/768 and a week into transferring and reorganising everything. Does everything perfectly, except access my darned XP media computer. OTOH, Microsoft's networking is tripe too, so can't really blame it for that. It all went downhill after Netware 3. I wish one of the computer companies would forget this "My Computer" nonsense and get networks working properly.

Perhaps it would be easier to shove a mac mini as the media server instead.

this looks like one of the many bugs of lion's apple's (vs. open source) implementation of smb. I would hope they fixed it in ml because it makes accessing smb networks a pain in the behind. I am sure they didn't though.
