So I guess they're not going to have a new 4" phone to replace the 5s? At least one person mentioned to me that like the size of the current iPhone and would want anything bigger. In a couple of years you won't be able to buy a new 4" iPhone then.

Yes you will and probably a credit card sized one as well. Hugeness, like flatness is just the current fad. One day soon everyone will be drooling over the iPhone micro.

That looks an awful lot like the flex cable for an iPad mini. Been a while since I opened one up. But very similar iirc.

I'm waiting for the iPhone Nano, myself. Its revolutionary new design allows you to make phone calls on the fly! And nothing else! It's unbelievable - You can TOUCH your phone calls!

There wasn't iPad mini.
There wasn't plastic iPhone C!
And of course, according to some there is no iPhone 5.5" either

The difference is... THOSE products had a flurry of leaked parts. iPhone 6 5.5" has had none. Last time there was a rumor of a redesigned iPhone... the "tapered iPhone 5"... there were companies who released cases and there were mockups... but no leaked parts. The only iPhone we got that year was the 4S.

It's not a fad, it's dictated by human physiology. Unless everyone in the future will have eagle eyes and toothpicks for fingers the big screens are here to stay. That is as long as the touch screen is the modus operandi that everyone goes with.

Are you ready for Galaxy S5 Blue? There'll be one soon.

They have been out at least since the Galaxy S3.

Yeah, but there was a time when the rumor about iPad mini/iPhone 5C existed, and leaked parts NONE. Don't forget, rumor about smaller iPad circulated for over 2 years until it was released. 5.5" iPhone is going to happen, not a matter of if but a matter of when!

A 'bold' approach ??

Suggest Apple dispense with the iPod Touch.

It does near everything the phone can.

Allow iPhone to be 'phone-less' if desired, a dopey notion at best.

Allow those who prefer a bigger screen use the electronics for phone already built into any iPad.

Drop the earphones that simply don't fit everyone the same and let the Bluetooth carry the load.

Concentrate on the new iWatch.

Build whatever new size iPhone 6 they want to build and skip all this lunacy.

This part leak clearly suggest that iPhone 5.5" production is now starting, just few weeks after 4,7" model. Some more leaks in the next few weeks should confirm this.

Um... I work with SIMs all day every day, and SIM card trays. This certainly does not look like a SIM card tray and looks like a *Micro SD* card tray. Notice the abrupt inward cut in the middle of the tray? Sim cards have a slight nick in the top of one corner, they are not shaped like this. Unless Apple is releasing yet another type of SIM card...

Here is a lumia 1520's Micro SD card tray for example.

Looks much closer than the iphone tray

Edit: And honestly, just like the Lumia 1520, when you have so much wasted space because the screen is so large, it's almost stupid not to add an SD card tray. It's not like they're going to make the mainboard longer/larger to take up extra space, and the battery isn't going to be anything but a rectangle. I'm assuming this is 5.5 inch only.

I always thought that after the gold iPhone , Apple will release a new blue iPhone, and now I see this, wow!
I remember one of the first iPhone 5s parts leaked was the sim tray in gold , and it turned out to be accurate so I think they are releasing a blue one this year.
But why would they kill all the hype for the gold color so quickly??

There is no way Apple cannot meet the demand year after year for good few months... Apple is making less supply to create the initial blast, making people thinking everyone is going crazy over the new whatever iPhone...

There is no natural law of physics..If Apple willing to do som they can. They want to create the initial blast, so they will announce:" look we are out if stock already, everybody is going crazy over our new iPhone. You should hurry to buy as well." Then all you see is Apple sold out iPhone in every major news outlets...
This is not true. Production volume isn't something that you can easily scale. Apple sells at least 3x as much iPhones in the first few weeks as during the rest of the year. That would either require a huge production volume increase (3x the employees, machines, supplies) for just a few weeks. It is very expensive to increase production volume for just a few weeks.

A much more economical solution is what Apple does: start production a few weeks before launch to build to meet initial demand and then keep producing om maximum capacity for a few weeks. Yes, supplies will be limited, but it beats building huge expensive factories that are only used 8 weeks a year.

I repair phones: This is clearly an micro SD card tray. Probably not even from an apple device.

Apple really need to at least announce a 5.5 inch iPhone in September, otherwise they will lose the phablet market to Samsung once again, with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 expected to be released at around the same time as the iPhone 6.

Samsung would still be in top of the phablet market, but this is a chance for Apple to take a little bite out of Samsung's sales/market if they announce a phablet. If they fail to release this 5.5 inch phone, they have missed a killer opportunity.

Correct. Definitely not a SIM tray. Didn't see it earlier because of the teensy weensy screen on my iPhone, but now that I'm looking at the pics on my laptop, yeah, those are SD trays.

Between the Samsung Galaxy and Note series there are more differences than screen size. Features and price plays a role and it's well worth the $100 premium. You get double the storage, s-pen, 3 gigs of ram and better processor. Apple charges $100 just for doubling memory.
If Apple releases 2 sizes with the exact same specs I would rather get the 4.7" model. Why pay more money for a lower dpi? I don't see Apple releasing two new screen resolutions. The 5.5" dpi would suck compared to the 4.7" model. It's bad enough that developers will have 4 screen resolutions to deal with.
The 5.5" is not coming until 2016 and it will have a higher dpi.
