I wonder if that dual camera module is for 3D video.
Is there even enough stereo separation? And how would you watch it in 3D ?

My hope is for both cameras to be used to take a photo... and then the software combines both photos into one super-quality photo.

I saw a demo in Photoshop where they took 4 images of a scene with a lot of noise and combined them into one image with lower noise and thus more detail. The thought behind it is that the noise in each image was different and the software could filter out the noise.

If phone sensors/lenses can't/won't increase in size... just use multiples and build the image computationally.

I can't see them leaving out a headline feature like this from the 4.7 inch phone. Optical image stabilization is rather minor, an entirely different camera system is not.

Why would you doubt it? Stabilization is only available now in the iPhone plus. I'd be shocked if they put it into the the stock 7 or the SE.

Oh please no...the 3D fad really needs to die out, it's a pointless technology.
This is not for that kind of '3D'... its to provide parallax to allow digital zoom.

Are we sure that isnt just the camera module for LG's new phone?

These "spies"s could be just showing us existing stuffs after reading rumors on this site...

Well - this Iphone 7 is looking less appealing by the minute.

Dual camera (I7 plus only)
No headjack
RAM (same 2G)
LTE/WI chip (same)
Casing (removing of antenna lines)
Touch ID (same)
3d Touch (same)
Thinner (who is asking for this?)

What else?
You clearly haven't been affected by the "Reality Distortion Field" yet, have you? :D Let's hope they have something unexpected up their sleeve.....

This along with 256GB, might be bound for the iPhone 7 Pro version, it would make sense.

It may make sense, but it will also make some people unhappy.

I'll be pissed if I have to buy the + model to get this camera. This is a must have, but I don't want a massive phone.

You'll be pissed but you'll still buy the 4.7" iPhone 7. Maybe the dual-lens camera module will be slimmed down in time for 2017's 4.7" iPhone 7s or 8. Either that or the battery will be slimmed down to accommodate the larger module (with the same battery life as the 7 due to the major improvement in efficiency of the A11).

iPhone 7 Pro is all about "Photo/Video Pro", not gamer pro, not faster speed pro, not better display pro.

Spend sometime read this presentation from Linx, and if you believe Apple could transform from Linx's proto to reality in iPhone 7, 7 is going to be one of best "PRO smartphone photo/video camera" for years to come, specially for low light photo/video.

That's exactly what I thought too when that rumor broke out. Not only does it provide a very streamlined uniformity in Apple's product line naming scheme, but I really think an iPhone beefed up and tailored for the more pro-oriented photographer makes a lot of sense. The iPhone 6 Plus with exclusive OIS was just the beginning.

There's gonna be some mighty disappointed folks around here.
It appears if you want all the bells and whistles you either go big or go Android.
Gimping features is in Apple's DNA now.
This is not your Father's Apple.
The sooner you free yourself from the RDF, the less frustrated you will be.

Maybe a new color?

Starting to wonder myself if the 7 will be a tempting upgrade from my 6. I'm perfectly fine with the 6 but I've always upgraded every other year. This would be the first time ever skipping. Maybe that is a sign of the times for iPhone and why sales are drooping --- the thrill is gone after they upped the standard size and made an XL model.

Another huge factor for me is this would be the first iPhone, except the original, I'd have to pay full boat. But unlike the original iPhone, it won't come with an unlimited data plan since ATT is K.O.ing us legacy unlimited plan holders to the curb.
And then there is the annoyance of figuring out which carrier to switch to.

So yes, Apple needs something than a slightly different case than the 6/6s in 7 to motivate me. Maybe if it was a slim BUT ruggedized case and screen. Maybe. The plus/pro looks interesting but too awkward to run with so that is a non-starter for me.

I totally agree. I want a change of design almost more than anything else. Sure, I appreciate the hardware bumps and camera improvements but a design change is always interesting. Why would I want to hold and see the same design in a phone for 4 years? Look where that's taken HTC. One M7 was a hit, the M8 was okay, and the M9 was a huge letdown, all because they didn't innovate in the design (or camera) department. They just iterated for 3 straight years.
In what way would you like to see the design change? I think the iPhone has evolved quite well for the tech that's available. I'm sure there will be at least a few different ways to tell you have an iPhone 7 and not a 6. Performance wise (which really matters) the 7 will be much better than the 6. Heck the 6s is....and the 7 series iPhones will build on top of what the 6s's already have. The radical changes in design aren't going to happen for at least another 2-4 years for any manufacturers I would bet.

I'm sure it will work either way but most of my photos are taken in the horizontal orientation. Wonder how this affects lens placement with the two being top/bottom vs side/side. Maybe though it would only use one at a time for different reasons. Zoom vs Wide or something.
I don't think it makes a difference. When I tilt my head to the side, my eyes still work together.

I really hope this is included on the smaller 4.7" 7. I also hope Apple doesn't fragment the crap out of the iPhone line by making it 7, 7 Plus, and 7 Pro. Make the feature available on all models, with the only difference being size.
Please don't try to make it better than it is. Give full information to the readers. You've forgot the 7 mini.

Couldn't have said it better except to say include it on a 4 inch too!

That will probably be the best SoC on the market by far, considering how well A9 is performing...

Dual camera (I7 plus only)
Interesting feature. A pity if they put it only in the Plus (too big for my needs)

No headjack
Hardly an issue for many users... I'm still debated about this move, waiting Apple to learn their motivations.
RAM (same 2G)
What should be the problem with 2 Gb of ram ? Ah ok, you are following the android "I have more" pattern ...
LTE/WI chip (same)
Do you know what chip will be used ???
Casing (removing of antenna lines)
The one leaked recently, if not a fake, actually is beautiful.
Touch ID (same)
Best on the market.
3D Touch (same)
Again the best on the market.
Thinner (who is asking for this?)
I won't be displeased by a thinner iPhone.

To sum it up, I cannot see any point to define the iPhone 7 as "less appealing", based on early rumors.
Let's see in September...

I would like thinner (and lighter) phones each iteration. One doesn't realize how much progress is made with each upgrade until one goes from iPhone 6 to iPhone 4. The weight to size ratio is insane. There is no way I would ever go back to a previous version of iPhone. If the iPhone 6 was made with iPhone 4 hardwares with no improvement to thinness and weight (which is apparently what Macrumors people want) then the iPhone 6 would feel like a literal brick. Progress is made slowly, bro. Making things thinner and lighter isn't a bad thing, it's a good thing. One should embrace it.

I don't see why people are upset that this is is exclusive to the Plus model. Many people, including myself, would have gone with the 4.7 inch if it had OIS. And plenty of people will choose the bigger phone for this new camera setup. It's the only way apple will sell 5.5's at a $100 extra price tag
Are you joking when you say you don't see? It seems pretty obvious to me.
