Possible UK, Black To White Conversion ?

Just an update guys, I have just placed an order, and paid via paypal for all of the white counterparts for my iPhone 4 from http://www.iphonefixed.co.uk/

This company is the one based in Wales, and I have family nearby to their offices too, but they appear very professional, and extremely helpful via email, I would imagine all will be fine, and the purpose of me documenting my doings here is that hopefully this info will help someone else who is planning on converting their black iphone 4 to white too.

I order all the white parts except the white dock connector which they sadly didn't have in stock, but are getting new stock later next week.

Parts ordered are as follows..

1 x Complete White Front Glass with LCD & Digitizer for iPhone 4
1 x White Glass Back for iPhone 4
1 x Home Button in White for Iphone 4
1 x White Headphone jack & Connections for iPhone 4

Paid via paypal, via their website, all went smoothly. Will keep you guys posted.

I didn't go with the conversion service, I ordered all the parts to do it myself.

Or did you mean postage/shipping time for parts to reach me? No, no mention of time I should expect, but I did specify I wanted a tracking number when posted, and asked for my parts to be shipped by International Signed For Royal Mail post.
 
thats cool glad somebody took the plunge! Hope the install goes well.

depending on how well the install goes for you and the quality of the parts, i might consider getting the conversion service.

at the moment there are too many issues to risk, heard a few stories on these forums; namely light leakage, yellow blobs on display, backplates without flash diffuser etc etc

Id love to go white but im not going to risk it until i know exactly what i am getting and the phone is issue free. Im pretty OCD about my phone so any defect will annoy me!
 
Im with you on the OCD thing, me too my friend. Once all the parts arrive, I shall inspect closely, take high quality close up photos for everyone, and then go over everything I have learned about the iPhone 4 tear down, and parts fitting, then take photos during the process, which will aid a guide I will put together.

Sorry i misread i thought you were sending off to let them do the conversion.

I have just got a pdf list with parts for the iphone 4 of a chinese seller some are very cheap and there is a few things i have not seen before with regards to buying those parts.

Tried to upload here but the pdf exceeds the kb amount for upload :(

Im hoping your parts are cool because i will most probably order the front and white button if all goes well :)

Sounds good matey ! Just out of interest do you have much experience with taking apart/repairing iPhones ? I only ask because its a much cheaper option to do it yourself. Also i look forward to seeing the guide; especially the dock and headphone jack sections.

Yes my friend, I repair phones as an hobby really, and of course to make some spare beer money :p I have previously worked in the trade also, and have a long history in the Nokia telecommunications industry worldwide, but this will be my very first dissection of an Apple product, but from the tear downs I have seen so far, it looks easy enough for me.
 
Further update for you guys. I received my invoice today from iphonefixed.co.uk confirming my order, and that the parts will be set out to me quickly. The invoice is below for you to see, with my address removed. Looks very professional, and well presented.

my decision to change to white is resting on how good your parts are!
 
Update guys. No parts arrived in today's post so emailed iphonefixed.co.uk, asking if they could email me the tracking number for the Royal Mail International Signed For package for my parts, and as of yet they have not emailed me back :(

I have however informed them in the same email that several big Apple sites are looking forward to my experience with buying from them, these forums, and many others inc TIPB.com, Mac Forums, Everythingicafe, and more, so its in their best interest to see this through, and deliver as I can potentially put a lot of business their way.

Fingers crossed I will get a tracking number very soon.

I will keep you guys posted.!

Yes my friend, they emailed me the other day, and sent my tracking number. Parts are currently in Finland, and should be here tomorrow. Will update post, or start a new thread detailing the parts with close up photos of each part etc for everyone.!

I had texted iphonefixed.co.uk too, and got a nice reply promising my tracking number would be sent later that day, and true to their word they did. So far so good, just hoping the parts match their service so far. Fingers and toes crossed.

On another positive note, my iPhone 4 has been sent to me today to from the Uk via DHL, so that will be with me very soon too. I will use it for a little while to ensure everything is ok with it, then once happy, I will convert it to white.
 
Parts are now at my local post office, so will be collecting them today, and examining them closely, as well as photographing them all up close to share here with you guys. I will post a link here to my new thread which will be the place of all my future White iPhone 4 related parts, and conversion work related to iphonefixed.co.uk
