Maybe a very stupid question, but is it possible to sideload apps using Windows? :$

See, I just got myself an Apple TV 4 and there's a Dutch app (NPO; Netherlands Public Broadcasting) that currently isn't available in the App Store. It is possible to sideload it, but since I use Windows it seems like I can't? At least, from what I've read. :p

Was hoping someone could tell me if there's a workaround or something?

It requires a Mac, but you should be able to get a VM running on your PC that can do it. It's a lot of work though.

If you get yourself a copy of VMWare Fusion 8 you'll be able to install OS X El Capitan in a virtual machine. It's fairly straightforward.

For those interested:

Four sideloaded Australian TV Channels have been created by an Australian member.

ABC 24hr news channel... and 3 x Channel 7 free to air channels.

Obviously for international members you will need a SmartDNS or VPN service to view.

They work perfectly!

That doesn't seem to be the case, Lappen71, no matter how strongly you insist. I too get my airplay stream of youtube and other streaming video interrupted when i lock the phone, or switch apps. It is rather annoying and definitely not as reliable as chromecast, in my experience.

It depends on the app devs. Airplay has the ability to let the Apple TV take over streaming. Some devs don’t bother with that feature.
