Every day I see posts which I know break the forum rules, but I have stopped reporting them as I now think it is a waste of my time.
Not all post reports get acted on, but every report is looked at, many are looked at more than once by different mods. Some get reviewed and cause group action and conversation. Some reports are not relevant to the forum rules, some ask us to do things that are too time-consuming for the forum they are in, for instance, the political forum.
Reporting posts is a community action given in good spirit, with no expectations of any acknowledgement or reward except that of knowing that the board is kept tidy and useful to all our members. By reporting posts, you're not just helping us, you're helping
everyone here.
Just because a post report is not acted upon, doesn't mean we don't appreciate the couple of seconds that people take to let us know something isn't as it should be. We appreciate all those who report posts as it keeps the forum enjoyable for all.
Where possible, we strive for consistency, but because we are human and volunteers, with interests outside of MacRumors and lives strung across multiple time zones, things sometimes get done in slightly different ways with varying levels of attention and speed.
However, every mod action is subject to potential review we're not working in a vacuum and if anyone uses the
Contact Us form, the issue will be reviewed by one of the admins and the mods in question, and a reply almost always given, unless it is of no relevance to the forum.
I'm sorry that you feel that reporting posts is a waste of your time; many members do not feel their time is wasted. Their reports get acted upon swiftly, usually following their suggestions, and we appreciate their effort and their consideration of others in doing so.
