Quick questions:
  1. What happens to user post count if, a user posts a thread, people respond and it is moved to the Wasteland? Does it go down or stay?
  2. What happens to user post count if, a user posted a thread in the wrong forum, but was moved to a forum where post count isn't counted (like the Games forums)? Is the post count affected?

1. It should go down. There was a time when bugs in the forum software had other effects, and the post-counts became inaccurate after such a move.

2. It should go down. An uncounted forum is an uncounted forum. Or should be.

In both cases, the converse should also occur: if a thread or post is moved from an uncounted forum to a counted one, the post-count should increase.

Are you asking because you're seeing an incorrect count, or just as a general question?

Both. A thread I commented on was moved to wasteland yet my post count stayed the same. I haven't seen it the other way, but I assume it wouldn't increase it.

I looked in Wasteland for recent additions, and saw your post in this thread:

I then moved that thread to a counted forum, and saw your post-count increase by 1, which is the number of posts you have in that thread. After moving the thread back to Wasteland, the count decreased to its pre-move value.

I watched the post-counts of a couple other accounts with posts in that thread, and their post-counts also correctly tracked the placement of the thread in a counted forum vs. Wasteland (uncounted).

The post-counts changed within 10 seconds after I did each move. I had to refresh the page showing the post-count, because none of this site's post-count displays are real-time counts, as far as I know.

I observed post-counts using member profile pages. Yours is here:

The little popup window that shows up when you roll over your avatar does not show a real-time count, though one might assume it does. You need to refresh whatever page it's on, in order to show post-count changes. This is pretty easy to demonstrate just by posting in another tab, with your avatar popup visible in the first tab.
