For all the people who were all hysterical over this $15 charge, did anyone upgrading an existing line ever actually get charged the fee? Like everyone else, my pre-order confirmation email from Apple listed the charge, despite the fact that it was only supposed to be for new lines. It's been two billing cycles now and neither of my lines was ever charged an upgrade fee.

Same here ..

I was never charged this year. Last year I was charged $40. There was a contract renewal over the past year and a lot of FANs had added a fee waiver. I tried to get a credit for last year's charge - it was a no go. I almost had it but a manager looked up the contract for my FAN and said there wasn't a fee waiver last year. - Or they flat out lied to me.

WTF was that charge all about? They charge me $15 for a full price iPhone. I paid full price for it. I shouldn'pay any upgrade fee. I'm not even doing anything with my current plan. This is ridiculous. IRATE.

An AT&T Foundation account with a no upgrade fee clause means I never see the charge, nor do I ever have to deal with it.

So for AT&T our policy states that if you were already in a NEXT agreement and you were renewing to another NEXT agreement, this time around you will be waived. Next year you won't be though. You get one pass for already being a NEXT customer. Next year on though upgrade fees are standard to everyone.

Even myself as an employee will be charged the fee. It just is what it is.

That is what I did. Better not have changed my bill one cent.

Just a heads up, any time there is any sort of change there are almost always prorated charges unless you do the changes at the very beginning or very end of your billing cycle. So your first bill may look slightly higher than normal, but after that you should see it back to normal =]

What I did, dealing only with Apple, show have nothing to do with your words, above.

Yes. Even adding a device through apple typically does cause prorations. And outright purchased devices will also be subject to the $15 activation fee. Again, most people are being waived this year, but next year the only ones that will get waived will be people who have fee waivers as part of their FAN discounts.

No. Just checked my bill as we got two new iPhones from Apple on introduction day, both T-Mo units with our ATT SIM cards inserted at the office.

There are no activation fees or charges and my bill is exactly the same as it was the month before.

Like I said, it's subject to, and typically. I never said for certain =]

Switched to AT&T as a new customer and received my iPhone 6s (16GB/Silver) from FedEx today. A couple days earlier than expected. I wanna say they waived the $15 activation charge. Maybe because I'm a new customer? I had to get away from VZW. They are the worst. I think they want $30 to upgrade now, but don't quote me on it.

If you move your sim card to your old phone do they give you a refund? Do they charge you activation every time you move the sim??

I paid for the device in full and didn't get charged $15. I'm also still paying for my old AT&T Next device though. I still have 10 months left on that. I swapped the SIM card before I turned on the phone for the first time and the only issue I had was that I had to contact them to enable FaceTime over cellular.
