Mine screen looks pinkish on top 1/4 of screen. It really annoys me. I hope it goes away.

It'll go away in about a week.

Source for this "fact"? Waiting...

Mine was pink in the corners and cyan diagonally thru the middle. I exchanged it. New one has a slight warm cast in one corner, but I can live with it.

I was planning to exchange mine, but after reading about all the QC issues that are rampant on this forum, I am thinking I might just stick with what I have.

i just returned mine today due to the uneven tint. i'm not one of those people who goes looking for something to complain about, but the tint was beyond what i'd consider acceptable. i've owned many apple devices, all with their own small issues, but this is the first i've exchanged one.

the new one i picked up today is perfect. sure, it has a teeny bit of light bleed, but the colour is considerably better than it was before. i was sure to check it out in the store before i left, just in case.

my husband's ipad is also great, so i guess i just got unlucky in the one i had at first.

Most people got good iPads....

i definitely agree with this. and i also thing that some people who found fault with theirs were practically looking under a microscope to find something. i'm pretty sure that the legitimate issues make up even less than the 14ish% in that poll.

They way I see it, 14% of Macrumors members had problems, that translates to less that 1% of normal people.... :p

Seriously, these forums are a magnet for people seeking help with problems. It's like saying 14% of people in the hospital are sick. Well duh!!!!

exactly! lol

iPads being mass produced in such ultra high quantities, there's bound to be some issues. As I see it, as long as Apple takes care of it, that's all that matters. The number of defective units is somewhat irrelevant unless they represent a big portion of production. Apples secrecy will no doubt shield those facts from anyone other than a select few within the company.

Apples reputation for taking care of things is good with just a few exceptions, so I doubt that this problem will grow larger. With Apple quite quick to perform exchanges or replacements, I believe that this will take care of people's concerns. It's only the inconvenience that will put some off.

Of the three iPads I bought, one was very yellow over the entire expanse of the display. You didn't have to look close or at any particular angle. It was seriously affected, the moment I began to use it, the discoloration was just horrible. I immediately took it in for a genius to view, his reaction was as surprised as mine.

Side by side with an unaffected iPad3 there was no question. They replaced it and the new one is just as nice as the other two I have. Not a hint of discoloration.

That's good you got a new one. Can you post photo of old yellow screen?

It appears to be viewing angle related rather than any other sort of defect, at least on my screen.

When viewed straight on, it's perfect. In portrait at an angle, the top 1/3 or so starts to shift towards being slightly greenish-yellow. Strangely, this seems to be directional, as it changes to the bottom 1/3 if I flip it over. (and largely disappears due to the angle I usually hold it)

I suspect that people complaining of it either being the left or right side, are using their iPad horizontally and/or are not holding it central in their vision, or are at an angle to it.

The LCD panel is not bonded to the glass, so I doubt it is adhesive. I believe the cause for this is a switch from IPS to Samsung's IPS-like Super PLS displays:

As you can see here, IPS displays tend to lose more brightness & contrast at an angle, and shift towards blue. As previous iPad displays were already somewhat blue, this was less noticeable than a white screen going somewhat greenish-yellow.

Here is my iPad 2 (left) compared with the new iPad to show that the old IPS panels were indeed somewhat blue:

Unfortunately, I couldn't get a good photo showing what the displays were like at an angle.

I could really care less about your problem but if you have more pics of her could you post them up??????

I would wager 98% of the 14% are anal retentive, manic, with a hint of OCD.

Yellowish on entire left side.

I've noticed that the entire left side of my new iPad is warmer than the right side. I'm giving it some time to sort its self out though.

I don't really see how this could be anything but a tint on the glass above the actual screen. Let's hope the glue theory is true.

All-in-all, most consumers wouldn't even notice this issue. Unfortunately, I'm a graphic/web designer, and I've been trained to be OCD about these things. Ignorance is bliss, right?

I had my first iPad replaced due to an exposed back light. My replacement one is great :) good ones exist for us OCD folk.

Mine gradually turning PINK.

Started off in the bottom left corner but appears to be spreading. Now only the middle-right isn't pink. I'll give it another week before I take it to Apple.

People are saying it has become better after use. Is there a setting on the iPad that would keep the display on and not time out? (or a program that would keep it on) I may want to leave it on overnight for a few nights and see if it improves.

Mine isn't bad enough that I would return it I don't think, but it is worse than my iPad 2. My iPad 1 was much worse.

I've got the same thing going on with mine - that I just recently noticed. It's not anywhere close to the whole screen, just the top left corner when holding it in portrait. I THINK it's getting better, but it's annoying enough that if it doesn't correct itself in the next week or so, I'll be taking at trip to the Apple Store too.

Mine is pretty perfect. There is a slight blueish tint at certain viewing angles however it's nothing of concern for me. Either I don't notice as much or don't care. Probably the latter but I'm super happy with my screen

I took another poster's advice and wrapped mine I'm a blanket while at full brightness.

I can't say it's fixed my pinkness but it's done something. I'll report back when I've tested it properly.
