Edited these old iPhone 4/4S wallpapers I had lying around, so they'll fit iPhone 5. I can't test them with iOS 7 myself but I assume they will look pretty decent.

With the parallax feature in ios 7, iPhone 4S wallpapers fit fine on the iphone 5. No need to resize.

My current wallpaper on my iPhone 4 with iOS 7 bèta,
I've made this photo by myself in Rotterdam, The Netherlands:

Although, a wallpaper matching the screen resolution will in theory look better than a wallpaper of 4/4S resolution, no?

In theory, but I tested 2 of the same wallpaper patterns, different resolutions (4 and 5), and they looked the same on my iphone 5. I think parallax will need significantly higher resolution images (so that even zoomed in, it looks clear).

I just tried an experiment. In the first picture, I applied a standard iPhone 5 resolution wallpaper (640x1136). In the second picture, I applied the same wallpaper, but with an iPad 4 resolution (2048x2048). The iPad wallpaper is noticeably clearer than the iPhone 5 resolution, due to the zoomed-in effect of Parallax. This means that standard iPhone 5 resolution wallpapers will not be of a sufficient resolution with Parallax turned on.

Edit: it seems I can only upload one picture per post from my phone. This is the iPhone 5 resolution wallpaper on my iPhone 5.

For those that like gradients - I found this website that lets you make simple gradient wallpapers any size you like. Plus it has a nice Palette Generator so if you have a nice wallpaper but just want the colours in a gradient you can easily identify them.
