Oh dear.

Anyone else tried searching in texts for people in long list of texts and get nothing or was that one fixed. Doesn't respond to 99% of names and I have to find manually

Wondering whether to bother with 8.0.2

Search doesn't appear to do anything. ... useful *puzzled*

8.0.2 has been a mess for me.

The paralax effect slowly diminishes during the day, I can reset it by reapplying the wallpaper.

Going from lock screen to homescreen sometimes loses the wallpaper momentarily, however a reset seems to have fixed that.

I also have disabled "Reply from lock screen", however, it started to allow me 'sometimes' to reply, even though it was toggled 'off'

Group messages don't seem to be working for me either, at least not consitently.

Not a great release for me.

I'm not setting up as new... I have too much I want to keep.

I think we can safely say this is the worst iOS yet. And they are touting it as their best. Shame. There were so many things that worked just fine for me on 7, appalling battery aside, but they've really gone backwards this time. For me anyway

My TV shows still show the badge for unwatched episodes even though I just finished watching them and let them play all the way to the end

Where do I start?

Rotation like everyone else
Whatsapp has started having a non responsive keyboard since 8.02, have to quit and restart app on my new 5s
That also broke my bluetooth headset pairing on my 5 my plantronics refused to pick up or hang up calls. 5s touch wood ok for now,
Hangs, lots between apps, Safari, mail, settings.
Wifi drops on and off connected to airport extreme v5 and TC v3 on iPad air.
There's more but will go through this thread later to check for dupes.

Biggest bugfest since iOS 4 easily!

Opened camera from lock screen. Set to slow mo. Open camera app again 12hrs later its still set to slow mo. Not very good for grabbing a quick opportune photo and would drive granny crazy when she finds she's recording instead of taking a picture.

So why is the system not resetting? Its all over it. In every single aspect the system refuses to reset to useable (start) positions. If its deliberate its wrong as can be seen in the above camera example. 12 hrs later I want to take a picture and fast before I miss it.
I think that's basically by design at this point.

Every new version is touted as the best, and almost all of them have "disaster" threads associated with them shortly after they come out...and they all do fine down the line nevertheless.

Here's a biggie. Bluetooth for many car systems no longer works. If you do a search you'll see this is being widely reported among various models of cars. This one is inexcusable.

I fixed this by doing a Reset All Settings.

I don't know if this is intentional by Apple, or bugs, but here's something I've noticed:

Notifications - Let's say I haven't looked at my phone in a while. One app will have multiple notifications. When I click on one, all will disappear. This might come in handy from time to time, (and might not be a bug per se), but it's also caused me a great deal of aggravation with some apps.

My problems with 8.0 has been loosing available free space when my iPad is not being used. overt he last few days that seems to have stabilized, but now seeing issues where Safari is acting up. Needless to say 8.0.2 won't be installed or tried any time soon. I see where many talk about doing a clean install. Huummm since several have described this done a few ways, can someone please explain the correct way of doing it.

All of the items in my iHealth dashboard disappeared today, so it's now empty again. I can add them back in, but of course they will then start from today and not from the past. :/

Its terrible. More clicks just to get to the home screen from a locked iPhone. how they think this is better is beyond me. How do newbies get on with it. Give granny an iPhone she'll say thats confusing. I don't know where I am. Oh I don't like it. People instore will be the same. Instead on unlocking to home screen they are buried 20 pages deep at a half scrolled screen and first impressions last i.e. this looks crap. Thats how I feel about it.

my iPad2 freezes with IOS 8

Everyone needs to report these bugs to Apple

Sorry if this bug has already been reported before.
The first day IOS 8 appeared I upgraded my iPad 2.
Then suddently, when writing a post, it became frozen at a certain point.
No further writing possible, no backwards to the previous page, nothing! :(
The whole display was frozen and the only way to get out was with the Home button to finish Safari.
Luckily I found in the web instructions how to downgrade to 7.1.2 and at least at that moment (September 23.) it was possible. Today I do not know if downgrading is still possible. Now, in spite of IOS 8.01 and 8.02 I will still wait for a while. A frozen iPad is a scary possibilty and I do not know if downgrading will still be allowed by Apple if the newer IOS version causes the same problem,
If any owner of a iPad 2 had the same bug and if IOS 8.0.2 solved it,I would be very grateful to tell me about it. Thanks ! Ed

happens on 5s and 6. In safari typing to this forum happens a lot. it appears to be an iOS 8 bug

I think the idea Apple has is basically to provide an environment where you always get back to where you were/where you left off so everything is basically just continuation of your use of it. I don't know if that's better or worse necessarily, just perhaps different than what it was like before.

So it clears notifications just for that app, or it clears all other notifications from other apps as well? If just from that app, then that's how it usually works where once you are in the app the idea is that you can check on all the new things you've been notified about it in it and therefore there's no need to keep any notifications that have come in so far around any longer.

Volume icon keeps flashing sporadically on the screen switching between mute and volume on. I'm not even using my iPad mini and it will sometimes flash on and off about 10 times then stop. So in not sure if volume is affected or not.

I don't know if it had been mentioned, but when I get 3 or more notifications on the lock screen, I can't seem to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get the Control Center.

Quite annoying and I really hope that this is not by design

iOS8 + iP5 = Disappointed

*Disclaimer* I am not sure if these issues have already been noted (I can't sift thru 20+ pages at the moment) nor do I know if they are exclusive to the iPhone5 or affect all devices running iOS8.
  • Audio track drops from videos when turning the phone from portrait to landscape mode (noticed in YouTube, Facebook, etc).
  • When composing an iMessage/SMS in landscape mode the left side of the keyboard becomes unresponsive.
  • Three different times I have had attempted to wake device from the lock screen and had it freeze (it actually appears to replace my lock screen image with one of the factory ones and then the "slide to unlock" bar does not work - have to force reboot).
  • The touch tracking of the number pad seems off when entering my passcode to unlock the device. I have never had problems before (pre-iOS8) and now I seem to get erroneous inputs and/or skipped digits 2/3 of the time.
  • The icons from my home screen bookmarks are all gone - only shows a blank grid now for each of those.
  • Overall the phone is not as smooth as it was - some delays in things here and there which were not happening before.

Performed a "clean" install of 8.0, missed 8.01 (thankfully) and 8.02 was performed OTA but planning on doing a clean install of that tomorrow. Really, really bummed that I missed the window to downgrade. My wife's phone is the same and is also experiencing at least half of these same issues.

Notification banners appear at top of screen and don't disappear after a few seconds. Have to open the notification app or close down the app I'm in and relaunch.
They'll fix it.

2 things, iPhone 5s iOS 8.0.2 messages gets stuck in landscape mode when holding phone upright, have to close messages and then reopen to fix. iPad air on iOS 8.0.2 in safari, links are untappable, links won't launch, must scroll web page to enable links.

----------

Periodically in safari if I press the top of the screen to scroll to the top of the webpage I will be unable to click any links on the page until I scroll down a bit.

which device, iPad air with 8.0.2 here and it does it occasionally without auto scrolling to the top. very frustrating.

Apologies if this has been posted already as haven't read all 13 pages of thread!

On my iPad 2 in iOS8, ALL of my bookmarks (which I have added to my homescreen) on my home screen are displaying like this:

URL]

The bookmarks still work however, one thing is a little strange - the bookmarks which create a logo (like the Apple bookmark you can see), display correctly (as you can see by the Apple iOS8 bookmark and also 'The Next Web' bookmark icon), however, some of the other icons (I am presuming that these bookmarks do not create an icon but just create an image of the website itself), just do not display correctly?!

Can someone else try and create a bookmark on their iPad 2 and see if they get the same result?

Well, this is certainly one bug which has been fixed in iOS 8.0.2 - all my bookmarks have now automatically turned back into icons again!

:)

....well, looks like I spoke too dam soon on this.

Last night, I turned my iPad 2 off (because iOS 8 has rendered it SO blimmin full of bugs, I'm getting constant crashes in Safari, stupidly slow animations when zooming in and out of apps, so turned it off to reboot it - its SO frustrating because my iPad 2 was fine on iOS 7:mad:), and when it came back on, all the bookmarks had reverted back to my original post above - where all the bookmarks on the home screen are blank:( Even clicking it on them, does not bring back the icon.

Seems that the only workaround is to re-add them to my homescreen again.:(

Also getting the same issue on my iPhone 6.

iOS8 settings/permissions issue

Hi all,

i've noticed a strange behaviour in the Settings App.
Every time i check settings/privacy/location services i notice siri's location enabled although i switch it off repeatedly.
Does anyone else have similar problems?

Cheers,
Daff
