Hey, thanks for the answer!
I restored it as new when I got it, and after 3 days I did it again because I wasn't completely satisfied with the battery, as I am not right now, too. It's jailbroken with Greenpois0n but only with Cydia installed on it.

So I should wait and hope it gets better? It's not really, really bad but 90% of people have better stats!

Dude, your battery is absolutely normal ! Read what you posted. Think again. Do you really think that half time on 3g, heavy playing, and etc.. would you get more than that ? Try only using wi-fi, turning 3G off when you are not using, less gaming, and tell us if its better. Some people just dont think about what they are posting and NEED to hear that their battery is ok. Sometimes I think they wanna hear the opposite.

Know what you brought up good points. Look at his standby time of 12 hrs'ish too.

If you plugged your phone in to sync music for 15 mins, then your stats are skewed.

15 mins of plugging my phone in will raise the battery percentage by anywhere from 20 to 30 %.

Yep, I realize all of that, but I was worried about the standby time. A lot of people have ~6 hours of usage and a day of standby. Mine was a lot less. I just had a feeling that the battery on the 3G was better, and I still have. So I needed to hear it from you if I was paranoid or not.

This standby time means that he used a lot the phone in sequence. He probably bought it last week, its normal for everyone when get a new phone to play with it around intensively, I don't blame him. But I am pretty sure his battery is OK,

I know I said this before but for all the new comers keep in mind that some people have no life and/or listen to a lot of music which would increase their usage time drastically. This is probably the reason why many people have amazing usage time and why others are going crazy about their battery life sucking despite getting 5 hrs of usage and a day of standby.

Just called Apple. They said my stats are reasonable. they also suggested to use the all battrey life until it dies and keep full charging. If it won't satisfy me for anohter 1 month will call them again.

I'll keep uploading my stats in here...

thanks

Right look at his standby/usage ratio it's 2/1, his usage is 1/2 his standby which means he's using it heavy.

It blows me away that people have stanby's of days with little usage, what nobody uses their iPhone?

Marc

Used the ipod for most of it plus lots of the calculator function as well. Moderate amount of surfing via 3G and wifi also. Push mail is turned off, some app notifications are on, auto brightness is turned on with the slider underneath the "n" in brightness.

I reckon that looks pretty good. I have 3 hrs of usage and 1 day-10hrs of standby 47% battery life. I played 1 hr angry birds. Surf the net for 30 min and faceook for 15 min. No phone calls so far after my last full charge.

Hi guys, do you think my battery stats are normal? I don't have the screenshot for now but....

My usage is about 4 hrs 42 min with standby time of 15 hrs 40 mins and the battery % is already at like 14% I started out from early in the morning.

My usage consist about 15 mins mirror edge game (3D game i reckon), 1/2 hour music and the rest would be pure surfing the net over 3G. Brightness at 40% with auto brightness on and push is off. My iphone 4 is jailbroken with themeing and stuff; my wallpaper changes every 30 seconds interval as well, if that helps.

I see that some of your iphone 4 battery stats are improving but for me, well before it was jailbroken, i could hit about 6-7 hours of usage but i guess a little lesses of 3g browsing as compared to now.

Let's do a quick estimate based on some guesses and the official Apple spec of (all defined as "up to") 6 hours 3G surfing, 40 hours audio playback or 300 hours standby on a charge. If we normalise everything to the 3G surfing equivalent then 1 hour of audio playback is equivalent to 9 minutes of 3G surfing and 1 hour of standby is equivalent to 1.2 minutes of 3G surfing. Lets also assume that 1 hour of that game you played has comparable battery drain to 3G surfing so 1 hour game play is equivalent to 1 hour of 3G surfing.

This gives a rough estimate that you used 86% of your battery for the equivalent of roughly 4 hours 17 minutes of 3G surfing. If you took the battery all the way down to the 2% cutoff with more 3G surfing then you would have got about 98 * 257 / 86 minutes of 3G (or equivalent) use which is about 4 hours and 53 minutes compared to the official Apple spec of up to 6 hours. I would bet that the Apple spec figure is for use in a perfect signal area and who knows what brightness.

Personally I'd say that your battery is just about within the margin of error for a normal battery, especially if some of your surfing was in a less than perfect 3G reception area, but others might disagree.

Wow pretty nice breakdown of the battery stats! thanks! if comparing to apple stats, i think/hope my stats are reasonable since apple always boost up their stats by quite a margin. Not to mention sometimes jailbreak eats up the battery a little. I guess i will monitor for a few more days and see how my battery goes (which should be fine). Thanks!

I've decided that the Trainyard game somehow sucks battery power when using it. I've had my iPhone 4 since it was released and was happy with the battery life then last week I got Trainyard and started playing it. That is when I realized that it really sucks down the battery power! You can almost watch the battery power drop while playing... I was really startled by how much it used.

Most of this was spent Browsing the Internet, playing Angry Birds/Fruit Ninja/I love Katamari, Facebook, and watching Youtube and Vevo. All the time I had music running in the background (aside from Youtube, of course.)

Brightness at 60% auto, Push emails on, no calling or texting, and no emails came in today. Bluetooth off, WiFi on and connected, 3G on and connected. Does all this seem normal?

Out of curiosity, is there a way for me to attach the image I took of my batt stat directly from my ip4 to macrumors?

I'm going to be posting mine soon and was hoping not to have to use my pc.

Plays Monster Dash for 1hr.30m, iPod (VBR songs with EQ) for just over an hr, web browsing over 3G/WiFi for about 45 mins, Skype calls over 3G also about 45 mins, email-hourly fetch, push contacts/calendar, usage of several location based apps (e.g Flixter) and several texts.

Looks to be getting better.

For what it's worth to those that still use EDGE. Yes EDGE drains battery faster than Wifi...

Hi everyone

Have been reading the forums for a while, how long before battery life is at full capacity.

I bought the phone new yesterday it had 70% charge when I got it home, I charged it to 100% that day ready for work that night. I work nights so didnt have chance to run it flat that day. WHen I got home it was at about 55% after facebook use, I think it said something like 4hours usage.

Phone was left on charge that day while I slept and tonight I am back at work, stats now showing 5:13mins usage / 10:8mins standby. 32% battery level.

Have used it for internet/texting, some apps, checking email and safari as well as watching a couple of vids on youtube.

I hope it improves once I do a full discharge and recharge. Is it just because it is new? At present I would say the battery life is discharging at a rate of 1% every 10mins if browsing internet. Which is the same rate as what my 3year old 3G discharged at so hope it improves.

Have 3G turned on, wifi off, push off, brightness about 40% and I make sure no apps are running that I am not using.

Your thoughts please.

Regards
Richard.
