So far, the majority of what I am seeing says nix the push e-mail. Depending on how long the phone calls were, it could chew up battery time too. The other items are pretty much what I am doing, so shouldn't cause a big drain.

My wife's first iPhone 4 had terrible battery life. This replacement is much better.

This represents what I believe to be my 6th full charge:

I run my battery down till it shuts itself off. I do this twice, charging to full each time. I will also continue my practice of doing this once a month. One time i had 6hr1m usage on my 3GS. But only once hehe. Usually 4hrs usage.

After my initial back to back I simply stick it on the charger when I got to bed.

I have my brightness set over the 'e' with auto brightness on, push off and email to fetch every hour. Location on. Having Notifications off also had an improvement.

One other thing I've found is that setting the network to EDGE really improves battery life. But it stinks for web usage lol so I only use it when I know I'll be away from a charger for a while.

Loving the battery life on my iPhone 4. Initially I was a little skeptical, but after a full discharge about a week ago, it has been fantastic ever since. From yesterday, with some really heavy usage (lots of WiFi browsing, some 3G browsing, decent amount of gaming, small camera/video usage, about 15 minutes of FaceTime, and probably 20-30 minutes of phone usage):

And this is only shortly after I had gotten the 20% remaining warning! Pretty happy with what I'm seeing from the battery life.

My wife is not a very heavy iPhone user, but she is now on her FOURTH day without a charge (pretty light usage, mostly the phone). She's been trying for days now to drain the battery for a calibration. It apparently wasn't even necessary! :)

One thing I notice is that you all barely are using data. My stats are showing 2-3x the data usage, which I guess makes sense why my phone is losing battery quicker. I'm probably using safari or pandora or any app at all times.

Lots of these folks have over inflated numbers because stuff like Ipod usage etc counts.

With very heavy usage you should be able to do 6 - 7 hours using lots of wifi. Maybe with just 3g Data you are looking at 5 hour range.

These folks who are doing 10-11 hours keep in mind lots of IPOD usage. Even Slacker Radio does not use that much battery. I can do 6-7 hours using heavy ISTOCKMANAGER on WIfi which is a stock streamer that is constantly updating.

Usage: 7 hr 16 min
Standy: 16hr 0 min

First day I was not impressed with battery I had maybe 4 hours of usage on 12 hours standby and was almost dead I made sure I closed my apps after using them and it helped me a lot.

Just wanted to mention that when I went to bed last night I had 100% battery and woke up 9 hours later to find I still had 100%.

Right now I'm at 11 hours standby and 25 minutes usage and it's 98%. I'm liking this battery!

So after a full charge and almost completely dead here are my stats. Would you guys say they look bad, or are pretty fair?

Usage: 7 Hours, 20 minutes (lots of Wifi web browsing)

Standby: 21 Hours, 33 minutes

Call time: 1 Hour, 2 Minutes

Push ON for 2 email accounts
Wifi ON
3G OFF
Notifications OFF
Location OFF

Push exchange email
Wifi on
Bluetooth on
Notifications on

Moderate internet, texting, e-mailing, facebook and iPod usage.

. . . So, that being said, today I used the phone heavily, lots of web surfing via both wifi and 3G, lots of speedtest tests on 3g, which must be tough on the battery, about 30 min 3G calls, some email and sending large pics, but, no ipod, and I hit the 50% mark at exactly 3.5 hours of pretty hard usage. It'll be interesting to see how accurate the battery indicator is, and if that number doubles or not, I did run it to zero last night, then fully charged, so it should be accurate.

Whenever I used my 3Gs this hard, with no ipod, I was lucky to get 5 hours, so, it seems I'm getting 2 hours or so more use from the 4. Not bad. . .

Lots of these folks have over inflated numbers because stuff like Ipod usage etc counts.

So I am thinking then that I have a duff phone, given the two screenshots below, from separate charges:

Both time:

Battery < 50% (auto)
NO IPOD
NO 3G browsing
very light wifi browsing / email
1 push email/contacts/calendar account / 1 on fetch
NO games
NO Bluetooth
Location Services on (not used GPS though)

Should I take this phone back or what?? I can't see how I can get anywhere near 5-6 hours others are reporting and I am not even using the phone!!!

Thoughts?

Edit - also, I have only made 4 minutes of calls on the latter cycle!!

My 3GS had 10 hours 2 minutes usage with 2 days and 21 hours standby with 3% remaining... (no music, just phones calls, internet, some GPS, Youtube..)

My first full charge didn't have great results. This is my second charge:

I've noticed that keeping location services off has a big effect - far more than on my old 3G.

Wifi on, 3G on, auto brightness on, fetch every 30mins.

Loving the battery life! Huge improvement over my 3G. I'm currently at 2hrs and 16 mins usage time with 5 hrs standby and I'm at 78%. :)

It's amazing, just amazing. 4 days with medium usage. I don't even have to think about charging anymore.

i'm at 2 hours and 5 min of usage with 7 hours and 28 min of standby with 81% remaining. It is MUCH better than the 3gs

Really good.

20 hours of standby and 4 hours of use... Still 40% left.

Usually with moderate use it's still at 40-50% when I go to bed at midnight. I start using it at 8 am.

Iphone 4 Battery Life Is Great. Thanks For Asking.

Also: Caps lock is cruise-control for cool.
