iPhone 4 + Bumper Case

When I purchased my iPhone 4 they only had the black bumper cases for sale. I was a little disappointed at first but in the end I realized black looks best with the black iPhone. FWIW, reception issues aside (I did not have any, even without the Bumper case installed), I really like the fact that the case elevates the back of the phone by a millimeter or so. This is a wonderful feature as it protects the back from getting dirty or scratched up by what ever surface you choose to lay your phone on. And, it also serves to keep the phone from slipping or sliding.

Installation of the Bumper case was a little quirky at first. I had some minor issues with the power button since the space between the power button and case power button is tight. After while though, and a few minute adjustments, it seems fine now. I give it a two thumbs up!

Here is my iFrogz Luxe Case in all black, kind of reminds me of the Incase Slider for the 3g. Picked it up from the AT&T store on release day.

I tried this one on my phone at the ATT store. Does remind me of an incase and I actually like it better as it's not as bulky. Still too think though.

I've looked at this whole thread and so far the bumper looks the best....I'm not sure if it's just because the photo quality was far superior? I'm worried that if I take my phone out of the bumper a lot, it may start to lose shape. Anyone have this issue?

I don't think it is an issue at all. It's a combination durable rubber and plastic. I've removed mine several times without any apparent degradation.

I don't have the iPHone 4 yet as I'm in Canada....but I considering not going with a belt clip case this year and rather with one of the slip on cases such as one like iFrog (or whatever the name is) makes.

I'd love to hear which company sells the best looking/durable cases from some of you guys.

Thanks.

Neither the Apple stores or the Best Buys near me have any iP4 cases, so I just ordered this for $9 shipped on ebay. Hopefully it's not too crappy.

What is the point of having a beautiful designed phone, when you hide it in a plastic condom? It's like driving arround in in a really nice car that is covered in plastic because your too afraid that it get scratched. A phone is use object and it just get scratched, you should live with it, but after seeing all this shattered back and fronts of iPhone 4, I understand a bit more why people do this, it's very sad that apple is not able to design a more resistant phone and forcing people to use this condoms, why not gorilla glass apple whyy?

It is gorilla glass. At least the front anyway, iFixIt still isn't sure about the back but the front of is indeed gorilla glass.

I have to say that the Incipio dermaShot is the best case I have seen yet. Sold at Radio Shack. (I have not seen the Apple Bumper Case in person)

I went to Best Buy on launch day. They had a lot of cases and I went through all of them. Each one had features i liked. The Belkin seemed good until I put it on. It had the hard rubber feel - Good, but the buttons were horrible.

One was too gushy, others the holes didn't line up right, others still the button action was bad or wrong. Hard cases I just don't like, I don't want anything to be recessed (button wise) if it doesn't have to be.

Anyway I just picked up the Incipio and it fits well (snugly), the holes line up, and the button action is done correctly. I am not a complete fan of silicon cases. I don't like covering bits of the front. I don't like that it's a lint magnet. Given enough time, the case is going to rip.

I took a picture with it on and it seems that there is no added glare form the flash bouncing off the side of the case opening. This is probably due to the black color and texture of the silicon. So this is good.

It also comes with a screen protector and cloth. However I am not going to use that. I don't think a screen protector is necessary because the face is glass, if you don't put keys in your "phone pocket" you won't get scratches.

Price ($20)

I am waiting for In-Case to come up with something rubber. I have one for my 3G and 3Gs... When that is available I will replace the Incipio, but until then I am protected by the best case currently available, locally.

Now I have trouble with ordering off the net. I think that you should be able to try the cases on before you buy, you don't know what you will get.

I assume that's a Belkin case? I really like it and will consider it if I don't like my black bumper.

Warning, this case is really bad for buttons. There's too much space between the case and the buttons of the phone, so you have to squish the case (resistance) before you can depress the buttons.

The bumper at least has metal buttons that depress the phone buttons and I would think have better action or feel. This extention of the metal look, texture and action I think is very novel and I am pleased Apple thought of it. First time I ever saw such a thing. It makes the case look like it was meant to be there, not an add-on.

Lack of button action or response is a serious issue as it is an annoyance factor. Don't underestimate annoyances you may think you can live with. They take away from your satisfaction of the phone.

Does the iFrogz LuxeLean case have a lining of soft material inside or is it all plastic? Thanks in advance.

It has a soft padding for the back its an OK case for now. Doesn't block the flash. Still waiting on incase to release something

I dont have a pic but the incipio duraShot DRX looks awesome!

I have the Griffin Reveal(?) I beleive that's what it's called. It looks like a bumper but it has clear plastic that covers the back of the phone. It's really nice because it offers protection to the back but you can still see it.

Would you recommend this product to a friend? Yes :D

Wow, so glad I didn't buy that ifrogz anti-glare screen protector. What's up with with the giant cut out at the top and the horse-shoe shape near the home button? I guess I'll just wait for the Power Support one to come out.
