I don't know, I beat the snot out of my iPhone - have since the day they came out and mines still in perfect shape. the only flaw on it is a white dot in the screen that I'm guessing might be a dead pixel- or a cluster of pixels maybe.

truthfully, I bought this phone to use it- not protect it. ive learned over the years that I only get a year out of phones- if I'm lucky. either they fall apart or I get bored with them. now, I'm not bored with the iPhone, but I know apple will come out with a better one soon, so........the beat goes on.

I expected some cosmetic damage, but was surprised by the durability.

I don't have a picture (nor do I think you'd want one), but I dropped my iPhone into a toilet bowl full of my urine. You think that one could never reach into something like this, but when a piece of electronics valued @ $399 is at stake, boy...things change!

Genius bar gave me a new one though!

They really gave you a new one, for free? I use iPhones at work. My help desk person dropped hers in the toilet and hence bricked it. I didn't think they would replace it.

Your milage may very. it's worth a try I'd say. But my local Apple store wouldn't do it, if I had to bet on it.

Broken Screen

I had my screen broken the other night when I was arrested. The cop threw me to the ground and it shattered my screen. I know what you're thinking, but I was arrested for something bogus -- shouldn't have been arrested at least. I was arrested for Criminal Trespassing cause me and a friend hopped a fence to hit some golf balls at a driving range late a night and cops threw us to the ground and arrested us on a $1000 bail.

Totally out of hand for a couple of 18 year olds just trying to hit some golf balls.

ANYWAY, my screen was broken and of course it would fall under Apple's "misuse/accidental" broken screen policy and would be replaced for the $250. Well, being just out of spending the night in jail / dealing with all this I have no money and a broken screen. I went to the apple store to see if anything could be done.

All I said was that I hadn't had my phone that long and that the screen had broken, I didn't even have to explain about the cops breaking it. The guy was really nice and replaced it right there, no questions asked.

BTW: I went to the Apple store in Southlake, Texas.

Attached are some before/after shots.

Looking at this thread kinda gives me the same feeling as watching people crash on skateboards or looking at pictures of car accident victims. You know that "ouch/cringe" feeling?

didn't load the pic mate.

Yall may remember my story about my messed up iPhone camera.

Sadly i don't have any pictures but basically everything looked fine save the fact all my pictures came out either pink or grey.

Of-course i found a fix that works (though i have to do it every few days). I just give it a squeeze and its all good.

Cool thread.

I've been using my cracked iPhone for over 2 months now. The glass is shattered and it's being held together with contact adhesive.

The top of the aluminium housing also has a big dent in it and is coming apart at the volume buttons. I can really make a piece of cool technology look like crap.

But it works and I think it gives it some character, not to mention that it's theft proof.

I do have a replacement screen on the way though and a black housing, new antenna cover and a black sim tray. I've sanded the chrome bezel so it's a nice matte now. Can't wait to put it all together and pimp my phone back to new.

"Don't smash my iPhone, Bro"

What the hell did you do with it:eek::eek::eek:

It looks like it dropped in a blender that was turned on, and then a second later you realized it and took it out. Either that or you were weed-whacking at your grandma's house and the iPhone dropped in the grass and you didn't see it and you weed-whacked over it six times before picking it back up.

It looks like it dropped onto rough cement or other hard rocky surface then stepped on. It makes my inner child upset. I wish Apple would release the iPhone in Canada.

Horror Story #??

Here's a story if you care to read it:

Horror Story

Also added a cracked iPhone background image you can download to make your phone look like it's cracked. This is what it looks like:

Why did you have your iPhone in the toilet?????

Same reason you can go into the bathroom at a bar and see guys taking a piss while drinking beer. People just can't wait to chat their ears off, even if it's disgusting.

wash and dry

Last night I heard a typical thumping noise in the dryer, and asked my wife why she was drying shoes... After she said she wasn't, she ran to the dryer and shouted "OMG!" I knew right away, without her telling me she had just found my iPhone. After letting it cool, I turned it on and to my surprise it actually came to life, however it was just a white screen and had what looked like frost behind the glass. I let it sit overnight and dry out some more and this morning it booted up, and I can make and receive calls. I can get mail and play songs, but the video doesn't work. Worst of all the frosted look is still there and the top half doesn't respond to touch. :(

Post how you broke (or almost broke) your iPhone!

I don't think I've seen a thread like this, so I guess this is the first.

Today, after my drum lessons, I was taking my iPhone out while leaving the building, when it slipped. I watched it hit the top of the stairs as I tried to save it. Unfortunately, my quick reflex caused me to kick it up, after it first hit the curb. It fell about 5 feet, and bounced a few more times after that. Fortunately, not even the case (Incase Protective Cover) had any marks on it, and the iPhone worked perfectly.

What's your story?

Does anybody else feel like you're reading "Top 10 ways my child almost died as an infant" when reading these stories? That thread on here with photos of broken iPhones is like seeing photos of genocide.

I hope my phone survives until I get one of those nifty cases I saw at The Apple Store. I was smart enough to at least get a screen cover, but I know at some point I'm going to drop it (because I have dropped every other phone I owned AND my iPod).
