This new plan wont actually effect me but here it is anyway.
Looks like i have never reached 2 gigs these past several months.

Received 3G iPad on April 30th. And for June I am tracking to 157MBs.

I will switch to $15/200MB for iPhone and to $30/Unlimited Grandfather plan for the iPad instead of the $15/250MB plan I have it on now for a net total monetary change of $0.00.

I'm thrilled!

I don't understand how someone can physically use that much data in one month when you go upwards of 7GB a month. My highest was 600MB one time when I used MyWi for a bit, but it usually hovers around 250-300MB most months. This month I'm sitting at 204.62MB with 13 days left on my billing cycle.

I guess that they don't have broadband at home so tethering would be preferable.

My May to June 2010 statement just came.

As an iPad Wi-Fi owner, it lowered my iPhone data usage in a big way.

Here is mine for the last few months. I was panicking when I looked at this when they first announced the changes. Was glad to hear they will let me grandfather the unlimited plan. I was not planning on getting the tethering so I will just keep the unlimited as long as I can. In case you were wondering on the data, I listen to the XM app (Opie and Anthony) on my phone at the office all morning. Checked and it is about 60 mb/hour.

My useage jumped from about 2-400MB a month to 2GB. I do not tether. However, there were several nights recently that I left Pandora running the entire night via 3G (no WiFi where I was). I guess that would've done it?

Wonder if we are going to see Roll-over Megabytes? :)

That would be great, but I doubt it will ever happen. Data is too much of a cash cow for the carriers.

It won't happen because people would actually use all the data for which they pay. If 97% of people use under 2gb then eventually everyone would use all of that data and it would be pointless to impose a cap.

Not necessarily. Lots of people have large quantities of rollover minutes saved. I currently have around 2,000. Obviously, I don't use them often but it is nice to have them when needed.

If I pay for 2GB, I want the option to use all 2GB, whether it is this month, next month, or a few months down the road. That's how roll-over minutes work, why should it be any different for data?

Because minutes don't tax the network nearly as much and minutes are used more(by normal people but not by me). IF everyone could use all that data it would be pointless for them to impose the cap on the first place.

I agree that is how it would work. What I'm saying is not everyone would take advantage of it and use the extra MB the following month. Just like rollover minutes are not always used.

When I see my bill and realize I didn't use 200 minutes in my plan, I don't automatically think, "Damn, I got talk more next month to use up those extra minutes." Some people would be the same way about unused data.

I completely agree with you. That's why I don't think it would be abused and it creates a nice buffer for those who get close to that 2GB limit and sometimes go over.
