49.32mbps

So I get over 20mbps easily....most of the time.

Carrier AT&T!

Fairly rural area near Waco, TX. AT&T HSPA+ but no LTE. Nearest tower is at least 6 miles away.

4.8 down, 1.7 up

I'm really happy with this for faux G and confirms my decision to go AT&T since VZW doesn't have LTE here either and may never in my neighborhood.

They will have it in the next year or two. They have solid plans to have their entire 3g network area covered in lte by the end of 2013.

I have both 4G model of AT&T and Verizon. I have both 4G LTE coverages. I will return Verizon 4G model.

As of 3/16/2012 new iPad launch, Verizon has 6x more LTE cities than AT&T, but both networks will cover existing nationwide footprint with 4G LTE by the end of 2013.

The iPad will deliver 73 Mbps LTE, but I don't think AT&T/Verizon will max out to 73 Mpbs.

AT&T is the only carrier that offers two layers of network technology that deliver 4G speeds: LTE and HSPA+. (fake 4G if you will)

i'm considering switching my vzw for at&t because of HSPA+ and 1 more gb of data..

what speeds are you getting with both?

i don't know if i really need the hotspot feature.. i've never needed it in the past, so i don't see myself using it now..

such a hard decision to make.. i just hate verizon's slow 3g speeds

I really wish they could demo the speeds of each model in the store before you made a purchasing decision. As a consumer, you're almost forced to buy both and return the inferior one...

AT&T Boston.

15-18 Mbps down/10 up in my apartment in boston
25-26 down/10 up when I'm outside or on campus

My wifi gives me 24-26 Mbps down/5 up

AT&T 4G and LTE speedtests. Sometimes 4G is waaaaay slower during what must be peak congestion times.

Could you provide more color on this please? Specifically ATT's roll out plans to catch up to Verizon's footprint.

On AT&T LTE I'm getting 35Mbps Down and 14Mbps Up. Couldn't be happier...it's faster than my home wifi! :D

I do know he posts that from reading it somewhere. It was in either an article on LTE or an AT&T press release on their LTE rollout. Specifically it said HSPA+ areas would be upgraded by the end of 2013.

I read the same article, but don't recall the source.

I took that test today on the Skytrain in Vancouver, BC, Canada stopped at the Commercial/Broadway station on the Expo line.

On saturday, I activated my LTE and I got 98 Mbits/s download at Pacific Centre mall downtown but I cannot remember the upload speed.

At home, I've been getting around 18 Mbits/sec download and 3 up.

PS. Our carriers are all offering 2 months unlimited data on the their month to month flex plans. :D

That's funny. I thought the new iPad can get 73 mbps max download?

At first I was confused. I had the unlimited AT&T plan and was afraid of blowing the plan transfer so I opted to let AT&T do it. I called them up, gave them all the numbers and thought all was fine. My only problem was that I was getting no LTE. I was deep in their LTE territory but no LTE. So I called them up and as it turns out they blew it. They entered the correct ICCID but not the correct IMEI (still had the old number). I updated the current info and voila 20 down and 10 up in Brooklyn NY.

I am now a happy camper!

If you have Verizon service in your area, then you will have LTE by mid 2013.

Someone should be able to get a 70mbps Verizon speedtest. The guys on Hofo are getting them in Manhattan at weird hours with Android phones.

This thread makes it hard for me to wait for iPhone 5 with LTE. I've got WiFi iPad 3.

Then both LTE networks will go to hell as a massive flood of users go on the LTE networks.

Personally, I'm more than happy with 5mbps on HSPA+.

Verizon sells different tiers of FiOS speeds. Here in NYC, the basic plan is 15Mbps. They up-sell to 25Mbps, 35mbps, and in some areas 50Mbps around here.

FIOS is *I think* 2.4gbps shared 32 ways, LTE is 73mbps shared many, many ways. It's just a matter of how they provision it. Home cable and FIOS services want to be able to deliver their promised speeds nearly 100% of the time, whereas wireless service is all over the place.

I know what you mean. Having started off with a 300 BPS modem, it's just mind-blowing to see these speeds. In another few years, we'll complain about these speeds being too slow.

I don't think so. We're way beyond the point of what one user needs. It's all about spectral efficiency and overall capacity. As it is EDGE would be fine for most of what the iPhone does, except that EDGE rarely works properly (for no particular reason, since it misbehaves in the middle of nowhere). 3G would be fine for everything the iPhone does, but it also doesn't always work properly, because of congestion.

I re did a test on the Dallas server.

As far as LTE, would my physical location matter?

I'm surrounded by brick buildings and in the middle of my apartment building.

You may be in a spot that AT&T has a tower that isn't running LTE, or you may be in a building that doesn't get native cellular reception and has repeaters. Those would be 850/1900, and wouldn't cover the 700mhz band LTE runs on.

Verizon. If anyone has AT&T LTE results from Midtown, I'd be very interested, as well, as I am planning to get the LTE iPhone on AT&T when it is released. I still have an unlimited data plan for AT&T, but HSPA+ is virtually useless in Midtown Manhattan between 9:00am-6:00pm on weekdays.

No joke. I have a Speedtest of 0.00/0.00 in Rockefeller center a few days before Christmas. The speeds are all over the place. Ironically, it works fine in front of the Apple store (coincidence?).

Seriously though, if I was in Manhattan often, I would have a Verizon 4G LTE phone.

I think I am in just a horrible cell area. While I am getting much better speeds with Verizon LTE, I am getting "only" about 10mb down and 8mb up. I contacted Verizon and was told I was within the promised range. Will I EVER get lucky when it comes to the speed of my connection? There are a LOT of people that posted upload speeds that are much faster than my download. At least it still is a lot better than AT&T.
