honestly, it seems something is wrong with this. I mean 70mb down? Nobody has seen those numbers nationwide and the theoretical limit is real world 72mb, but we all know that can't actually happen.

10x10 Verizon deployments in Manhattan have been tested at 71 in the middle of the night.

Activated LTE for the first time today and very disappointed with the results.

Seen someone here who tested Verizon in Jersey city with speeds as high as 30/15.

Yet I live in Bayonne, which is right next to jersey city and my best speeds were 10 dl/9up.

Is it the time of the day? I know LTE is supported in my area.

It might be, but the speed you report above is actually in line with Verizon's *average* speed.

Still Happy with ATT LTE in Dallas

Not bad...

That's true, but I know I should be getting faster speeds than this if someone who posted results in the city right next to where I live was much faster.

If not it doesn't matter too much since I'll be mainly using WIFI when I'm home.

Actually it can. Even using tethered LTE devices, users on AT&T and Verizon have seen spikes at 70+Mbps. Obviously, it's not the norm, but it has occurred.

LTE bandwidth limit is far higher than 72mbps. I install the equipment that Verizon and AT&T use for their LTE networks.

It's 73 per sector on a 10x10. The backhaul may support way more than 73*3=219mbps, and maybe it's shared with EVDO as well, but the air interface will be the limiting factor. I think the goal is to have the air interface be the limit, not the backhaul, at least in urban areas that need the bandwidth.

AT&T LTE - Jersey City, NJ
27.15 Mbps down (25 to 33 Mbps avg over 8 hours period)
10.95 Mbps up
43 ms ping

Wow doesn't make any sense how I'm not getting those speeds in Bayonne. Their very good but not quite those speeds. I have only tested for
my hose though. Will have to test in other parts of the city to see of I have anything different.

different parts of jersey city, nj... verizon is kinda pissing me off with their LTE service. i have to restart my iPad if it is on 3G to get back to LTE, turning cell data off or airplane mode then back on doesn't work. sometimes i have to reset network settings just to get LTE to work again. i might have to bring this back and have it replaced with an ATT one if possible.

I've seen numbers like this from AT&T, that'll change but haven't seen any from Verizon LTE like this from testers. I'd be interested to see more reports.

There are a few examples posted on HowardForums of Verizon users getting upper 60s-70 Mbps results. It's possible, but definitely not the norm. :)

Well I live in New Orleans and almost maxed out at 103 mbps download but ended up at only 77 mbps download. It was no fluke cause an hour later went back to that area I got 66 mbps.

P.S I usually get bout 20 mbps download and 13 mbps upload around my city almost anywhere I go.

Here is the proof. pic.twitter.com/CxPEQAog

It's definitely a fluke test. It's well-known that the theoretical max of Verizon's current LTE release is 73Mbps.

From my time in Kissimee, FL. Ignore the fact I'm on '3 UK', it was on AT&T LTE at the time (obviously I can't get these kinda speeds from a UK cellular network).

correct.

i helped upgrade the verizon cards in austin tx to lte. talk about fast when we turned them on! being the only people on it

Kinda odd but I use a mifi from a local carrier here in Puerto Rico. I pay $35 +$6 on insurance for 5gb a month of 4g LTE and when I reach the limit I get throttled down to 150kbps.

main reason I got the mifi and a wifi ipad is so I can use the mifi with other devices and have an independent battery.

Avrg speeds are 4-8mbps
