There are likely more iPads on AT&T's LTE network than any other LTE device. I'm not sure I would expect the speech to hold up when the next iPhone launches with LTE. heck, Verizon itself only has about 5 million LTE devices on its network and it's been constantly going down. I'm not sure I'd expect AT&T to stand it. But we will see.

Thanks so much for that bit of info. Never would have found it on my own. Another question tho, it's showing me now "3G", but I also haven't activated a Verizon account. Do I need to before it connects to LTE? I'd really like to know if LTE is in my area before I open an account. I still might exchange mine for an AT&T model. Thanks.

Yes you do.. Good thing is AT&T has a month to month plan, there is no contract.. What i do is pay as i need it.. Remember your leftover data doesn't carry over so make sure you use it all before the billing cycle ends..

Anyone in New Orleans/Surrounding areas with LTE from either company? Ok i have one result from Verizon in New Orleans how about ATT LTE here?

I'm in Raleigh, NC, with a Verizon iPad (LTE) and got some pretty good speeds so far. 33.78 up and 13.96 down.

Loving Verizons speeds right now! And not to mention the free tethering which in its first day of use has been useful in a few necessity ways.

New Orleans, LA

45.13Mbps down, 14.58Mbps up

Laugh my ass off, this whole time the thread starter was in New Orleans, did you mention that somewhere else in this thread? That is awesome, what area are you in, Im in river ridge and Im curious if ATT LTE coverage is decent, i know it is in downtown, regardless its nice to see that verizon is giving you good speeds here.

Haha nope never mentioned I was in NOLA till that speedtest post lol. I don't know of anyone yet in the area that got the new iPad for AT&T and tested the speeds here. I was in baton rouge yesterday and the Verizon speeds we around 22-35 down 15-25 up.

I legitimately never thought I would see the day when wireless speeds were double or triple that of a "turbo" broadband cable Internet package. It's truly insane to see speeds of 30-45 Mbps coming from a cell tower.

The iPad is quickly making all my home technology seem old and dated (1080p tv, cable modem, etc.)

menlo park, ca

Home isn't as good as out, home about 20MB

out..

Does anybody in Charlotte have results for AT&T and Verizon? I'm trying to decide between which one to get but want to see if theres a significant speed difference between the two before deciding.

I know what you mean. Having started off with a 300 BPS modem, it's just mind-blowing to see these speeds. In another few years, we'll complain about these speeds being too slow.

Was out and about in Raleigh yesterday. The higher ones are from the Fairgrounds area and Crossroads in Cary.

The lower ones are from Holly Springs.

These results are from AT&T LTE... so I'm a little envious of the Verizon speeds. Seriously thinking about swapping it out for a VZW iPad before stock dwindles.

Plano (Dallas), TX.

AT&T 4G, non LTE

For some reason is picked the Temple area (200 miles away)

Not great, but better than the 3G on my iPhone4

EDIT: I noticed its only on 4 bars too.

Go to settings in the speedtest app and it should give you an option to change the server. See if thre is one closer to you then retry. 200 miles is a tad far
