Varies greatly here in LA on AT&T.
will the "lte" symbol show up even if you are not signed up for data? i do see the "4g" symbol. trying to figure out if my area has decent lte signal. thanks.
Looks like I made the right choice with ATT. I need to switch mine out for a scratch in the back panel and was considering switching. I live in Plano now, but im moving to Carrollton next month.
Thanks for posting![]()
This is kind of stupid, if you don't know if people are connected to an LTE tower, what is the point of this.

I have a 16 GB AT&T LTE model. I have 4G in my area apparently, and get about 5.5 Mbps download, 1 Mbps upload with 3 bars of signal so not too bad. Better than what I get on my iphone 4 with 3G.
Will probably stick with it but swap to a Verizon model next year with the next version due to wider spread 4G/LTE network. That will give Verizon another year to increase their 4G/LTE network even more and then probably won't have to worry about dropping down to their 3G.
I'm pretty sure that the 4G means you're on their HSPA+ network which would be right considering the speeds you're getting. I'm in Fort Worth, and my iPad says LTE when on the higher speeds. It says 4G when it loses an LTE signal. If you don't ever see "LTE" next to your signal, you might want to switch to Verizon now. My AT&T LTE speeds are around 18 mb down, 27 up.
