I went to Staples this morning and got the Maxtor 200GB hard drive ($19.99 after Staples "Easy Rebate") and one of the Staples surge protectors (Free after Staples "Easy Rebate").
I didn't even need a drive, but $20 was too good to pass up... and this deal was available online. Rolled out of bed late, ordered it, plugged in a coupon code, and did the "easy rebate" all in about 5 minutes. Drive should be here in a week, and the rebate a few weeks after that.

Beats getting there at 5am or whatever.

I could of and ALMOST so close bought 2 Polk Speakers, and a polk sub for 191.00 Usally 500 dollars. Almost did but since i bought a new car i dont want to spend to much right now.

I went to Circuit City hoping to get a great deal on a 22 inch Samsung monitor. I got there at 5 am and the line was around the corner, when I had found a parking spot the line was already inside...then the fun began. I stood in line to "check if they have the product then purchase it if they do" (the manager's instructions) for two and a half hours and made 5 feet of progress. (they checked out 12 people total in 2 and a half hours....pathetic). THEN in the great irony of the day...the power grid for all of Plano failed and the store lost power. We left at about 8:30 dejected and without a new monitor. Then at 3 pm we went to Fry's where I purchased a 22 inch Viewsonic and was able to check out in less than 10 minutes...I will never ever ever shop at circuit city ever again.

I went to Home Depot at 5:30 am (they opened at 6:00am) to try to buy a "32 LCD TV that was for $478.00. I waited for about 1/2 hour in line, and there was about 50 people in front of me. By the time the store opened there was about 150 people in line. We were in line waiting for the main door to open.

Guess what Home Depot does...

They open the Garden Section door first, all the people at the end of the line go in first. By the time I get in and ask a sales person where are the LCD TV's, he laughs and says they are sold out...:(

So I decided to go to Costco, I got there at 7:30am there was about 5 people in line. The store opened at 8:30 am, and I walked in a bought a Vizio "32 LCD for 699.00. I know it's about $200.00 more but it comes with a 5 year return policy, and it is a name brand that I know...:)

That's it for my shopping. I went home and went to bed...

I don't think I've ever participated in the madness of Black Friday, at least not at physical stores. Heck, the last 6+ years I've done all of my holiday shopping, Black Friday or not, 100% online. Screw the malls and their full parking lot madness!

I did score a second Airport Express for $88 online, as that was too good to pass up. Also thought about picking up a pair of Shure E3Cs, but decided I really need to hear them before spending that much, even on sale.

But man, I didn't know about the $20 hard drive at Staples. That just might have been worth the ridiculous early lines and traffic! Oh well, I enjoyed sleeping in... :D

That's an insane price!!! What's the brand?

yeah, it was crazy because we didn't even know about the deal until a couple of hours before, when my fiance's parents called to say that they were thinking about picking one up, as well.

to top it off, our state was having a tax-free weekend, so we didn't even have to pay that!

anyways, it's an RCA and is fantastic. was DEFINITELY worth the wait.

I checked online for apple's sale in the morning. No MBP on sale, so I went back to sleep.

I can appreciate people that are 'into' black friday. Personally my long weekend is better served relaxing and getting plenty of sleep, not stressing over saving a few bucks on silly stuff I don't really need.
