Just a lonely Canon 1000D. It's all I need, to be frank. I'm still learning about lens' too. Anybody got any good advice for a budding photographer?

The 50mm f/1.8 is a very good start. Cheap as hell, excellent lenses, good for low light.

That 85mm f/1.4 is a dream lens, wish I had one.
I'm itching for a D3 too, but for now I'm stuck with my D2Hs and D200

Does anyone own the EF 85mm f1.2L? I know the Mark I was notorious for back-focusing, but the reviews of the MK II are very favorable. Any users? Thinking about grabbing one. Also wanted to grab a 135 f2L but it seems to be discontinued...? Is this correct?

I had one but what kind of camera do you have? If you have XXD series then forget about this lens. It's difficult to get a focus shot at 1.2 if you don't have a 5D I/II or 1D series. Even the 1D Mark III series have crappy focus at 1.2.

I've got a 5D MK II. I'd only be shooting wide open when necessary (really low light) and would stop it down when in sufficient light. I've read a lot of rave reviews on the 85L MK II. The reviews for the MK I were not so favorable.

It's a lovely lens, fast and accurate along with my favourite aperture of 1.2. I ditched mine for a 50/1.2 however as I found the 85mm focal a little too long for my use most of the time (I don't do a lot of portraits).

YES! I still shoot film by all means!! I do have a really silly Panasonic point and shoot which is bound to be ugraded soon.

The Bronica

150mm f/3.5 Seiko lens.

The Nikon F4 which is one of the most innovative cameras of all times and still is!! I will never but this baby away.

cracked my 50mm f/1.4 a few years ago though..... OUCH!

Currently:
105mm micro f/2.8 (non D)
28mm f/2.8 (non D)
35-70mm f/3.3-4.5 which is one of THE most distorted lenses out there!
(it's basically a free fisheye!)

Excuse me for the picture quality as my point and shoot had its best time.
I'm looking for a D80 to upgrade it.

How do you find the 50mm compares to the 85mm in IQ and AF speed/accuracy?

IQ I'm pitching around the same - I'm running on a 1D3 currently, so not pushing the resolution really. However, I do have a 5D2 on loan from Canon for 2 weeks on the 16th, so I'll be able to see if there's any change there. However, I've never been unhappy with the results.

AF speed? Fast! Accuracy has been good, though I have a -1 microadjustment dialled in currently, but I'm finding most lenses need some kind of MJ for perfection.

Looks like an AE-II to me.

I couldn't be happier with it!!

And it is indeed an AE-II

One of the only flaws of the Bronica is that after a while of lens changing etc... there's a bit of dirt built up inside the bayonet ring. This little detail reflects the owner's maintenance, if there's dirt/dust inside the bayonet ring be careful! the owner probably didn't take good care of it because it's really easy to clean.

Also check the focus screen as the view finder is detachable. If the focus screen is clean, that usually indicates good care.

About the lenses: the focus ring gives more resistance than a normal (d)slr lens. It should rotate incredibly smooth with no sound at all, but with a little bit more strength needed.

Great, thanks! Have you compared the AE-II to any other medium format SLRs? I'm interested in how bright and clear the view finder is because this is a problem with my Rolleicord IIb.
I can't seem to find any information about your model on the internet, when was it made? Is it 645 or 6x6?

Sorry my bad.... it's the Bronica ETR-si with AE-II Prism. I'm not quite a gearhead (that's why i still shoot analoque! )

The Bronica does 6x4,5 film.

The viewfinder is not that bright, my F4 has a brighter viewfinder.

while we are passing questions I am wanting to upgrade my PnS to a d80 or D2h. The D2h's 8fps is really something. The D80 on the other hand does 3fps but has 10MP. A D300 is way out of my league because I'm on a budget. I would really make use of that 8fps feature as my F4 is somewhere around 5fps, but 4MP doesn't seem much these days. Both the D80 and D2h cost around 400 euros second hand. I really feel I could be more creative with an D2h. So.... what would be best?

I'm pretty happy with my current kit, but I'm thinking of replacing my Canon 50mm w/ a sigma 50mm f/1.4 I hear the bokeh is just outstanding. I miss the Bokeh of my 50L.

Right now I have my good old Canon 20D and a 35mm Canon Rebel GII for fun, a Canon 50mm 1.8, a Tamron 17-35, a Canon 35-80 that I mickey-moused to turn it into a macro, and a Canon 80-200.

I have a bank account solely for my 5D mark II fund. I'm also purchasing some L glass soon as well, namely the 70-200 f/4 IS and maybe a 17-40. I'm also hunting for a Canon 35 f/2 and a Canon 100mm macro so I can finally huck the 35-80.
