How do you like the 705? I am deciding between the 606, 705, or waiting for the 706. thanks in advance for any advice.

I love the 705. I also have a 573 in my office--I really like the Onkyo gear. Now is a great time to pick up a 705, since they're on closeout (seemed like I got mine at a closeout-type price).

As pictured, I don't have enough space above the 705--it gets extremely hot, hot enough that the fans come on--if I play music at extremely loud volumes for say > 30 minutes. I can't hear the fans over the music, but it worries me.

My front speakers are bi-amped, which the 705 supports in 5.1 mode. It does get louder quicker with the bi-amping, saved me from buying a separate amp.

The Audyssey calibration sounds pretty good to me--some folks don't like it, but it's a far better starting point that I would be able to manually do. The OSD controls are pretty good, though basic in terms of the look. Very functional.

It works great with my Harmony 880, though in my office I just use the Onkyo remote. The 705 remote keys don't feel as 'solid' somehow as the 573 remote.

Anyway, all in all I'm very happy with both my 573 and my 705.

There is a pretty active 705 user forum on avsforum.com.

Good luck.

Some changes.

Well, there has been some changes over this few months. Wall mounted the TV, changed the TV, changed the music source (from iPod to AirPort streaming) rearranged the whole setup, now there's no stupid bookshelf right next to one of the speakers, and there's more overall space for them.

I would seriously recommend wall mounting the TV, the mount costs like $100~ (and there are cheaper ones, non-tilting) and it takes a couple of hours to mount the stuff, truly worth it. And I know, the TV looks as if it was way to high, actually it isn't, its within the range of the speakers imaging (if this makes any sense) so there's no odd imaging and when watching movies the sound appears to come from the screen, not from the big speakers. Anyhow here are some pics:

Nice, I am still waiting for MSNBC HD :) Not that CNN HD isnt nice, but I just prefer MSNBC.

Thanks. Yah, I actually get few HD channels here (costa rica) and cnnhd is the only one that is truly hd, the others (national broadcasters) have crappy HD signal...

No... I think the were talking something about McCain but I can't remember what it was haha... not about the other creepy stuff.

Yeah I know, I just came back from a long trip and afterwards I could only find myself playing Metal Gear Solid 4.... But now actually I'm "restricted" from the PS3, got into and argument with mom and she decided taking the PS3 away and the HDMI cable just to ensure I wouldn't play for a month... I think I might get it back sooner, dunno.... If I do, I'll be ready for some pwnage ind COD hehe

LOL my parents wouldnt touch my stuff since theres so much wired and complication
Same here, but she made me unplug it and all, kinda lame, specially at this age... meh hhahaha
@ Victor

Nice to see your setup looking good now. :D

Thanks bro.

Also, does this sound good for cables? They're the ones available at the store where I bought the Klipsches (thats what they use in all of their speakers, KEF, Jamo etc included)

"Jamo AG-cables (Audio Grade) ensure optimal connections between speakers and amplifiers. The cables are made of 99.9 % OFC copper, and the insulation is transparent. Available in the following thickness: 0.75 mm2, 1.50 mm2 and 2.50 mm2"

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the info. The 705 is on closeout and dirt cheap. I will check out the avs forums when i am off work.

thanks for the info.

Yeh they'll be fine. :) I'm not a believer in upgrading cables, as long as they're well-made and durable, well shielded and preferably balanced (although most consumer kit doesn't support balanced connections), they're fine by my books.

Here's a photo of my home theater taken from the lounge. The TV is an LG Flatron TV. Also in the picture is a DVD player, video player, Foxtel set top box and a Playstation 2 (hard to see but it's on the side of the TV). Not to mention Mum's collection of vases and photo frames :D.
