I agree with those guys, the room looks great. I was curious where you get your artwork, cause we have similar tastes. Except my walls are covered in Derek Hess pieces![]()
love my sound sticks but would have never used them on a TV. hows that?
Thanks man, I'm actually a Derek Hess fan as well, I was going to order one of his prints, but the size wasn't normal so I would have had to custom frame it and was too lazy. Me and my friend did some of the art, and the others I ordered online at various websites. I dont really like the speakers, but I can't afford to upgrade to anything better right now. If you are talking about my event monitors (by my computer) then I love those.
oh yeah they really fill the room i just would have gone with something else but if its a small space i guess the work but no center channel. They're far better than using the tv speakers alone, that's for sure. They sound great! My room is quite small, so I'm not delving into the world of surround sound yet, and the soundsticks do really well, in my opinion.
Yea, I have spent a small fortune on frames. It's all good thoughThanks man, I'm actually a Derek Hess fan as well, I was going to order one of his prints, but the size wasn't normal so I would have had to custom frame it and was too lazy.
Well, there has been some changes over this few months. Wall mounted the TV, changed the TV, changed the music source (from iPod to AirPort streaming) rearranged the whole setup, now there's no stupid bookshelf right next to one of the speakers, and there's more overall space for them.
I would seriously recommend wall mounting the TV, the mount costs like $100~ (and there are cheaper ones, non-tilting) and it takes a couple of hours to mount the stuff, truly worth it. And I know, the TV looks as if it was way to high, actually it isn't, its within the range of the speakers imaging (if this makes any sense) so there's no odd imaging and when watching movies the sound appears to come from the screen, not from the big speakers. Anyhow here are some pics:
All right, so I finally got a decent tv! Here's the newly-set-up... setup.
40" Samsung 1080p LCD
80 GB PS3
1 TB Time Capsule
Motorola DVR
Harman/Kardon Soundsticks II
G-Tech 1 TB G-Drive Q connected to DVR via eSATA
Obviously, I haven't hidden the wires yet, but try to ignore them.

Edited to add: I'm sure I'll break down and get an tv soon enough, but I feel like if I were to get one now, it'll be refreshed in January!
At the new flat, with the new stands - they make such a difference to the bass response! Also finally got enough space to set up the record deck
<pictures>
Sugden? You mean the record deck? My father built it when he was a PhD student, but after that it spent 10-20 years in my grandparents attic so the motor supports are pretty fragile. It survived the 400+ mile car journey up here & looks okay for the moment, but I do check it on a fairly regular basis.Good to see someone else who enjoys music properlyMotor dropped out of your Sugden yet?

I have no idea, all I know is it's called a Conoisseur BD1, that the parts that bear brands are branded 'Conoisseur', & that it resembles this relatively closely. I've never heard of Sugden before, nor did my father ever mention the name.Did your father build it from a Sugden design? The Connoisseurs have become renown for increasingly fragile motor assemblies.
The motor went on my Rega Planar 3 quite a while back (it's an original 'from when they first came out' - 1972 ish). I guess all these old decks need attention now...
iPhone pic. I kinda gave up on finishing it for now because I wanted to wait until I get the surround speakers since I'll need to move them to a different location and run more wiring behind the walls.
