my "home theater" at college
IMG_6931.jpg

I downsized a couple years ago for a nice two-channel setup.

MY STEREO...
Rotel RCD-1072 CD Player
Rotel RC-1070 Pre-Amp
Rotel RB-1080 200Wx2 Amp
Paradigm Signature S4's (Pair)
Premier J-23 Stands (Pair)

FOR NETFLIX & Gaming...
Sanyo 32" 720p LCD
Playstation 3
Nintendo Wii

FUTURE GEAR...
Dual 10" Velodyne Digital Drives
A larger 1080p LCD (but I want the DD's first!)

tvstand.jpg

I used to run a digital projector (with a Carada screen) and a pair of SVS 16-46 Plus subwoofers equalized with a BFD. I found myself watching less and less movies, so I ditched the projector and screen. After hearing the Velodyne Digital Drive subwoofers, I had to sell the SVS units... I would rather have nothing than something other than the DD's... :(

Heres are home theater :D (I think it beats everyone :p)
The "screen" size is 103" (diagonally) And its clear as a bell!

while i agree your screen may be bigger than most of ours id get to working on your sound system lol
those pc speakers cant be doing the home theatre any justice

upgraded my 32" to a 40" its a 40w4000 and i cant recommend it enough :D

also to the person who said my 5.1 placement wasnt regulation, its really the best i can do right now with my rears but im moving up to 7.1 when i move into my own place after christmas and will have everything sorted :D
the auto calibration on the sony amp does a really good job of getting the sound stage right though so props to that.
also wires have been cleaned up a bit since the pic but iv not gone overboard with the moving out soon

I'll have you know that those speakers are INCREDIBLE!!
They were the best speakers at the time (10 years ago) and I see why .

But we will take donations for surround sound :p

doesn't beat mine :p 120" Screen, 1080P LCD Projector, 7.1 surround sound. Xbox 360(Elite with the HDMI output), Sony blu-ray player.

I'll take pics nxt time I go downstairs.

iPhone pic. I kinda gave up on finishing it for now because I wanted to wait until I get the surround speakers since I'll need to move them to a different location and run more wiring behind the walls.

Do you like the blue light on the TV on? I have a Samsung LCD TV and that was the first thing I adjusted on the set, to keep the light from turning on.

I'll post my setup when I get home from work.

Ouch...

Thats one nice projector, ours is only 720p we'll trade if you want :p
And GameCube beats Xbox any old day!

I'm sorry, but I don't think using composite video cables and little computer speakers really qualifies for a home theater... :p

I said I would post my setup, here it is. Sorry for the crappy quality, can't find my D50 and using my roommates camera.

The setup goes:

Samsung LN46A550 TV
Onkyo 605 Receiver
Sony 40gig PS3
40gig AppleTV
Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD player (use mostly for DVD now because I can actually control it with my harmony which I can't with my PS3)
Comcast HD DVR box
Polk Audio 6750 speaker package
Harmony 880 remote

I have some lights mounted behind the tv, just some simple ones I found at IKea.

I leave the light on mine on, it's really dim couldn't imagine it would bother someone.

Hitachi 60" Projection TV, which I got free from my sister, as she and her husband just bought a new 47" LCD HDTV.
Nintindo Wii
XBox 360
Sony Playstation 3
(Not Pictured) Phillips 1000w Surround Sound System

Not too shabby for a college apartment...

Anyone have their TV wall mounted and cables hidden? Can you please post the stand you have that holds all your equipment. I'm looking for something myself!

Man, we got some fightin' word in here!

However, how do you like your Model 550? My wife and I are looking at the LN40A550 on Black Friday. I've read great reviews, just not sure whether to go Sony or Samsung. (I like Samsung a LOT.)

Ho hum. Apologies for the poor photographs, dim lighting played havoc with the camera and I didn't want to crank the ISO up.

My problem is that I live in rented accommodation for the moment, so I cannot install exactly how I want - ie: cable ports in walls, short cable runs to the ports. Once I take the plunge and actually buy a place, it'll be one of the first things I end up doing. However, it's decent enough at the moment, bar the cable mess behind the rack.

I got tired of waiting for a Mac Mini refresh, so I built a HTPC. Nice Lian Li case, good Asus motherboard w/ HDMI, 2 gb, old 200 GB IDE drive I had laying around.

Only used for NetFlix, Hulu, iTunes. No DVR, don't have (or want) cable TV or satellite. Maybe I'll get around to ripping all the DVDs some day.

The speakers are JBL E80s (left/right), JBL EC35 center; Monoprice cables throughout; Onkyo 705 receiver. There's an AirPort Express hidden in the back, along with a 5 port Ethernet switch. There is a gigabit Ethernet drop behind the bookcase.

TV is an older 55" Sony 720p that I got on clearance 18 months ago for a ridiculously low price.

Rear speakers are cheap Polk Monitor 40s; in-wall wiring is Monster. Wall plates and jacks are overpriced Levitons (didn't know Monoprice sold them when I did the wall plates, oh well).[/QUOTE]

I have to ask, why do you have two clocks?
