How's some outdoor theater??
After everyone went home, my 3 kids and I went outside and captured Jupiter and her 4 moons.
This is about 11pm, just above the East horizon, Jupiter is RH/South of the Earth's moon.
Captured with my Canon T1i and 55-250 kit lens @250mm, picture cropped.
The Earth's moon (did I have to say that?), captured with my 3 kids about 11:20pm.
They went to bed right after taking this.
How's some outdoor theater??
First backyard outdoor movie showing of 2010 held Friday 8/27/10.
Perfect weather, 25+ family/friends, kids, with popcorn watched the great Pixar movie "Up!" .
Picts tell a neat story:
Watching Pixar "shorts" as got darker prior to the main feature.
At 8:50pm the ISS went overhead, I paused the feature while we all watched it go from SW to NE part of sky, a special treat.
The main feature , "Up!", a great Pixar movie to show.
16' wide x 9' tall screen, I was just happy my Sony VPL-VW60 1080p projector gave a decent and bright picture.
Who says kids don't stay still for long, this is a 5 second time exposure (on tripod).
I love how the faces are transfixed onscreen.
This is a 4 second exposure, kids loved being in front laying on the blankets.
This is the shot I was geeked to capture, the Big Dipper watching over our little movie gathering.
Now, this is a 20 second time exposure!!
Captured with my Canon T1i and 15-85 lens 15mm, f4, ISO 800.
link to 1600 pix version, bigger is better for these picts!
I run a side job doing summer outdoor cinemas for schools and clubs.

Nice. Is this your view out the windows? If so, I'm envious.
Yup. If you look straight out you can see the Bank of America football stadium (you can see it in one of the pics). If you look out to the left then you get that view![]()
Bigred - I noticed your in a apartment. With that great of a sound system, how does it work out with your neighbors? Do those sound pads on the wall help at all? I have just a soundbar for my tv. I like it loud, but I don't want my neighbors to start complaining, so I keep it low. Maybe I should just keep it loud and wait for my neighbors to complain to find out where I can keep the volume at.
Well at my current place the floor and ceiling is concrete. The walls are extremely thick and perfectly soundproofed. There is absolutely no noise that can be heard between neighbors.
At my old place with the sound treatments it was your typical apartment. I was however extremely fortunate to the fact that I was an end unit with no one living beside me, below me, and the person above me was NEVER home...lol. In two years at the old place I never had a sound complaint and I even incorporated a 15" sub into that system. Keep in mind the key to a successful HT system in an apartment is being aware of your surroundings...Meaning, look to see if neighbors are home if you plan to crank it up, and never be stupid about how loud it can go. If you think it may be to loud, then turn it down a few notches OR go outside of your apartment and see if you can hear it. Sometimes its just the luck of the draw with neighbors too, some are great while some may be extremely noise sensitive. I'd advise you to make friends with the neighbors, introduce yourself and give them your phone number to call you if they ever need you to keep it down. Ya never know, you may get lucky and find a hott babe (at least thats what happened to me and she is now my fiancee
).
where are you located, city?
jesus 5k for the sound system, i can check that off my list lol
Charlotte, NC.
well there are plenty of nice sound systems that can be pieced together for a lot less. It just a matter of what makes you happy in the audio/video department whether that be a HTIB or a $20k HT systemThe key is to knowledgeable about what you're buying. There are plenty of internet direct companies that make extremely nice speakers for not a lot of cash compared to what you would get in a brick and mortar store.
