It just a matter of what makes you happy in the audio/video department whether that be a HTIB or a $20k HT system :) The key is to knowledgeable about what you're buying. I posted my HT setup earlier in the thread, but figured I would post pics of my latest upgrade. Wanted to go 3D and fully automated with lighting and device control.



1. JVC DLA-RS40 (3D Projector)
2. Marantz AV7005
3. Canned lighting in my Media Room
4. URC MX6000 remote to control all my devices and lighting. It will be fully automate by the remote. :)

To that end I highly suggest giving BIC America a shot.

The MSRP says something like $600 for the pair. I picked them up for $200 shipped (free shipping) from amazon. Best $200 I ever spent in my entire life. Usually I listen to them in 2.0, as you really don't need a sub, not that mine can keep up anyways (weakest link :p).

They do have some break in time like most speakers do. However, once broken in, the sound stage...it's just insane for the price. A warm, collected sound unlike anything I've ever heard. It redefined the words "sound stage" for me.

With that said I'm not sure you're ever going to find a physical speaker to listen to though, but at that price, what's the worst that could happen?
 
One of these days I'm going to upgrade to a 42inch, current is about 32inch Sony. The old AppleTV, Panny Blu-ray player, and my old 5 disc DVD player (Sony also). My DVD collection, in the thousands. My Blu-ray collection is just starting to fill it's little file.

The pic below is a bit old (I have a 4311CI receiver and EyeTV HD now), but most of the stuff is the same. I am pretty sure a relative visiting at the end of January is bringing an AppleTV, so I will update the pic at that time:

My mac pro cowers at the thought of ripping all those DVDs. Have a count on how many DVDs you own?

I have 12GB of ram on my Pro and 8TB of HD space.

I stopped counting my DVDs when I passed the 2k mark. If I were to guess the number of Disc I would say around 4k. I only rip the movies I like to watch over and over again like Matrix, LOTR, Die Hard, the Star Trek movies and some TV shows (about 50 of my movies are Disney/Plixar). I have about 600 movies ripped and 2TB worth TV shows like the X-files, Babylon 5, Alien Nation, Buffy, Angel, True Blood, Moonlight, Supernational, Surface, Taken, American Gothic, Couples, Torchwood, and I purchased a few series off iTunes when they were on sale. STOS, Deadwood S1, and a few other seasons of other Star Trek.

It's my hobby. While some people are in bars or football games I rip and watch movies. On rainy or cold days when I'm not at work I watch movies. On any given weekend I'll watch 4 movies or read and listen to music. On week days I watch a movie while I eat dinner.

I have several Genre sections. SciFi is my biggest segment but 'Shapeshifters and Vampires' have ther own place. Drama, Historical, Nature, Disney/Animation and Music/Musicals all have their places and are in alpha order. TV shows have their own place. I buy most used at flea markets, cdexchange, Pawn shops and discount stores.
